Cuisinart 8-Piece Pakka Wood Block Set

Purchased this set as a gift for a family with old and dull knives. Please note that they are intended for family use and not for a "chef". The set arrived quickly and well packaged with the tips of the knives protected in hard plastic. The knives extremely sharp. (the teenager examining them cut his finger and quickly adjusted to the fact these were not the dull knives he was used to) The wood handles look beautiful with a rich color and smooth finish. They fit the hand comfortably. The rivets were all set tightly in place and no ragged edges any place. I was concerned purchasing this set sight unseen as I have seen many in high end store displays where they were comfortable displaying sets where the finish appeared uneven, cheaply made and the wood was not sanded around the edges. I was also concerned that the name plate would look poorly made and distract from the appearance. I was happy to see that the block looked great with an even finish and the edges sanded smooth. The knives fit into the slots nicely. Having also purchased Henckles and Cutco knives- this appears to be a great set for the price. Time will tell how the knives hold up to frequent use. It a made a great gift and the family that received it was happy, impressed and felt like it was not only functional but decorative on the counter.
