Great pecan cracker, even if it was 3x the price
By L. English on Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2016
Bought 2 as I got a bumper harvest of pecans (8 - 5 gallon buckets) from a friend's 100 year old tree. These work very well at split the shell for whole pecan extraction. The adjustment is easy and quick for small pecans to large.Yes, mounting on a larger base, or better yet on the table, would be better but overall an excellent device. My wife and mother in law approve, haha. For under $15 this looks like it should last quite a while, even with the riveted joints. If the rivets give out on the joints I'll use some bolts and lock washers to rebuild it.

Good design in principle, but broke after 30 minutes
By Eustace Lufgren on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2016
I received this last night, and it seems like a good design but could handle being built significantly sturdier. I was cracking hickory nuts with it, and got maybe a half-dozen nuts in, before the pressure proved too much for it and one of the bolts on the plates (probably a better term for them) that connect the lever to the piston, snapped. Hickory nuts are tough, but a metal bolt should be tougher! $10 is reasonable for a good nutcracker, but not for one with a half hour service life. It's a shame, because it is a nice design...particular how you can set the depth to where the lever is just so far up over the body that when the nut cracks, the lever is stopped by the body before it smashes the nut any further. Excellent design, poor execution/quality.Edited a month later: Instead of returning the defective product, I opted to try and repair it, by buying some hardware that would work for it. I did so, and it worked through two or three nuts. Then an entirely NEW section broke, the piece that the handle screws into sheared off from its hinge. The pot metal that this is made of can't even stand up to a nut shell. Completely irreparable at this point. Apparently I waited too long and cannot return this product now, so I obviously made a tactical error trying to fix it (on my dime) instead of just shipping it back to them. Ah well. Caveat emptor.
