Great outdoor security camera
By Eric on Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2015
I bought this camera to use on the backside of my house to watch the garage and cars from inside the house. This camera was everything I was looking for- the camera and display were a wireless connection. its not connected by internet and inly viewable by me. and the camera is easily adjusted with the display to see a wider area. Installation was simple I bored a hole through my garage wall and ran the plug for the camera inside to an outlet and then I plugged in the display inside my house and was ready to go. I placed my camera underneath my roof overhang and I havent experienced any problems yet from any moisture or weather. Ive been considering purchasing another camera to put on the front of my house and the cameras could be set up to show on both displays then. This camera has exceeded my expectations so far and it works best at night if there is also lighting near the camera for the night mode to produce the best image.

Good camera with room for improvement

Although the camera was easy to install (just need a Phillips screwdriver and then run the power cord) there are a couple of agrivating factors that lead to my 3 star review. The first is that the hand held monitor only stays on for about 1.5 hours before it just suddenly goes from a full battery charge (indicated by a picture of a battery split into 4 sections ) to a total dead battery , then its back to the battery charger you go. The second is the zoom feature. They should have just not added this feature at all, that's how poor it works. The zoom is not a gradual pan out and pan in like you would expect. The zoom is activated by selecting menu/then keying over to a section that says 1x or 2 x You will select 2 x to zoom, and when you do the picture instantly zooms in 2x and has the most horrible grainy picture, to top that off , once you "zoom in" you no longer have the ability to pan the camera left and right and it seems to not zoom in centered to what you are viewing. Another very agrivating aspect was I opted to buy a second camera that you can link up , it linked up fine and works like the first camera but comes from a totally different supplier. It showed up and appeared to be in good order with all the parts, but it was missing the most important screw (a small machine screw) that fastens the camera flange to the mounting plate. Total bummer!!! The system does work and I will say I'm still happy with it , the wireless signaling has been really good with zero problems. The handheld monitor works well and easy to navigate from one camera to another. It has the capability of linking up to 4 cameras. When It's in the 1x mode the picture is nice and clear . It has the option for slow or fast pan (scan left to right 180 deg total ) and down to about 90 deg (straight down) it does not pan up at all, maybe 5-10 degrees max. So the range is such that if you place one on the corner of your Propery you can pan down both sides. It's cool and kinda fun. My daughter likes to use the handheld screen and operate the cameras. I keep the monitor at bed side or in the living room.
