Slightly flawed, but gorgeous!
By Pleazantry on Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2019
I purchased this L-shaped desk for my 17 yr old son to replace his worn out gaming set up. This product was delivered in a timely fashion, but luckily I was home because it required a signature (was not aware of that). The package is HEAVY!! I'm 5'2", and the package was my height. I tipped the hulking well-built delivery man $20 to deposit it in my son's bedroom. (I have zero upper-body strength). The desk was incredibly easy to put together (46 yr old lite-weight female here). The package is boxed exactly as the step-by-step directions. It is also very well protected. No skimping on the styrofoam encasings. I only needed a Philips screwdriver, with little to no effort strength. All of the pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly!! I put it together in the exact space where it was going. You are NOT going to be able to flip this right-side up by yourself. It is fancy particle board, after all. Directions were super easy to follow, other than typical common sense on position (laminated side vs non, mainly the two curved shelves). The directions are visual. You must pay attention to graphical details. My product did arrive missing 3 of the safety lock bolts (which are absolutely necessary to complete the build) but his previous desk had the same circular fittings so I lucked out by recycling them for this project. Also one of the finishing inlet plastic circlets were busted, but a quick dab of crazy glue fixed that issue (these plastic circlets fill in where cords are to run through on top of the desk, they come with an open/close feature). An added bonus!!! Side note: due to the exceptional packaging, this piece had to be a simple flaw before shipping. There is no way this was broken enroute, it was too well protected. The desk is actually very big (my photo does this piece little justice), tons of counter space realty. It is also extremely heavy, but so incredibly smooth. The actual feel of this desk on your hand as you run it across the top made my heart happy. It does have a slight varnish odor immediately after opening the package, but quickly vanished. I purchased the desk in black and it has a gorgeous wood-burned design (dual-toned black/greyish on black), which is not noticeable in my late-night photo. Upon first view, you assume they are imperfections, but after looking closely you realize the absolute beauty of the dueling color tones. I have used the shelves to house his XBone and his XBox 360, no issues with cord length vs TV position. I would absolutely purchase this product again! In fact, my son loves it so much, I'm going snag one for myself, probably in white.

Poor quality. You get what you pay for.
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2022
The first thing I have to say that the desk is pretty poor quality. I noticed issues immediately when assembling it, but for the $100 I paid, I rolled with it. I've noticed several more issues along the way, but i'm roughly four months into ownership and I feel it's time to write a review. Assembly is pretty straight forward, however, some of the holes for the cam locks are misaligned/missing. Not a huge deal if you're at all handy. But the camlock design in general is kind of garbage when used with the poor quality material the desk is made of. You have a chance of "blowing out" the material around the camlock, again, not a huge problem if you're careful. The next problem I found when assembling it was that the "L" part of the desk just uses little flat brackets. This really isn't a sufficient support for the part of the desk it is on. I have the problem with the screws falling out of the holes, now, four months later the holes are too stripped out to even use- so I'll have to come up with a new solution for that. The camlocks in a few spots have "blown out" from the desk having some wiggle, effectively just stressing the already poor quality material. I've remedied this by buying some "L" brackets from Home Depot and just "beefing up" the corners. This is not an elegant fix, but the brackets are underneath and you don't really notice them unless you're looking under the desk. My first complaint that doesn't involve the poor quality is that the edges of the desktop are unusually sharp. I'm not "frail" by any means, but I did manage to give myself a pretty good scratch on day two of owning the desk. Not sure how I did it, it's just sharp. The surface finish of the desk is really quite poor. I'm sure any kind of liquid would destroy it, but then again I don't recommend leaving any liquids on *any* desk. I've noticed however that the surface is quickly wearing down. (Where my mouse is, and around the keyboard the finish is wearing off just from normal use.) Around some edges and corners the finish has worn off completely, which is odd because they see no wear and tear. If you just saw this desk randomly in the corner, you would think it was a decade old from the wear and tear it has obtained in four months with nothing but a couple computer monitors on it. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the desk.. but if you do get it- just realize you're getting what you pay for. It was a hundred dollar desk, and it's doing its job for the most part. I would probably be more upset with the purchase if I couldn't simply hack the desk back together. If I had not been able to make some "fixes" to it, the desk would have been unusable by now and I probably would have written a much harsher review. Update: Six months into owning this desk now and I am just so annoyed with it. Previously I mentioned that for $100 you get what you pay for, but this quality for $100 is ridiculous. I'm six months into owning it, and I've had to brace every corner of the desk because the material is so fragile it has just fallen apart. The corners have metal brackets from Home Depot, different screws everywhere, and the flat plate that braces the "L" has lost it's screws. (I guess general use of the desk just wiggles it enough the screws fall out, and if you try to reinstall them the material just comes out with the screw.) I'm not over-tightening the screws by any means. All this being said, I have two monitors on the desk and a keyboard and mouse. Not a lot of weight by any means, and I don't use this desk for work, so it's not like it's getting 8 hours of use. It's a few hours a night at best. I'm now 3D printing a "brace" for the "L" corner hoping it will hold it together somewhat better because the design of it is absolute trash.
