A travel mug that's better than a Yeti or an RTIC
By KB on Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2025
I have been purchasing these to-go cups since 2012. They are hands down the best design I have ever used, and I've tried a lot of different brands, including the very expensive Yeti's, but these beat them all. Yes, they are a little harder to keep clean, but if you keep on top of it like I do, it's actually pretty easy. I simply remove the cap and open the sealing mechanism, spray some dishwashing liquid int the cap and then spray the hottest water I can get from my kitchen faucet while holding the button down to clean it out. Then I toss it into the dishwasher with the mechanism open and it comes out clean every time. The key is to not let it sit with sugar coffee in it overnight or for long periods of time. I bought a brand new very expensive pickup truck in 2012. I was getting ready to leave for work early in the morning and set the coffee mug on my center console. When I took off down the road, the mug went flying into the back on the floor, and of course my first thought was 'Oh' XXXX' I just ruined my new truck's carpet. I immediately pulled over and then reached back to grab the cup thinking the worst. To my happy surprise, not one drop had spilled from the cup, so these have been my Go-To coffee mug ever since and will continue to be unless their quality really goes to hell. I do like my Yeti's and RTIC's for cold drinks at home, but for a hot coffee travel mug these are the best hands down.

One mug in 2-pack not holding heat, delayed help from Contigo
By Susanne in Maine on Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2025
We have had multiple Contigo mugs of this type in our household and have always been happy with them. I ordered a 2-pack for Christmas and one of the mugs has been defective since the first use - after making hot tea in it, the outside of the mug quickly gets very warm, and the tea is cold within an hour. Very disappointed. I’ve contacted Contigo three times (filled out 2 contact forms and one warranty claim form) and have had no response to any of them (within 5 weeks, and the warranty form says they would respond within 2 business days, and it’s now been 15). I am very dissatisfied with the customer service. The about $23 I paid for the defective mug is way too much for a plain, run-of-the mill/uninsulated mug. Update 3/9/25: one day after I posted my first review (2/18/25), I was contacted by a person from Contigo Consumer Service. After some back and forth (about formalities), I was supplied with a replacement mug and I'm happy to say that the new mug functions as intended. I updated my review from 1 to 3 stars, because I now have 2 functioning mugs but it shouldn't have taken that much effort to get to that point. The Contigo person I corresponded with was very courteous and responsive to my issue, making the email exchanges we had easy.
