Bissell Commercial Grade Lightweight Vacuum

Purchased this as a gift for my mom 3 months ago. She needed a lighter vacuum cleaner that didn't skimp on power, and didn't need a bunch of bells and whistles. This Bissell BGU5500 delivered the goods! It is light, very powerful, and the bag is extremely easy to change (was actually shocked how easy it was!). My Mom was set on a another "Bagless" upright - but knowing she never cleaned the filters in her past two bagless uprights, I decided a good bagged upright was a FAR better idea. After a few months with this vacuum, my mom agrees! I never understood the whole bagless craze after owning a few myself - they actually seem to require more maintenance than a good bagged upright (like this one). This thing is indeed "commercial" by my standards. Very sturdy and powerful vacuum cleaner. The brush drive is incredibly strong, and plows through heavy dog hair and thick pile carpet with ease. It has not needed a lick of maintenance aside from changing the bag and removing some hair and string from the brush roller. It claims to have a "Lifetime Belt" - time will tell, but so far so good. The only possible drawbacks I see are: No light (who actually vacuums in the dark anyway)? No ability to use accessories or crevice tools (she has a portable dust-buster to handle those small tasks) Must manually wrap the cord for stowage (the cord is VERY long - a huge plus IMO - and likely not possible if the cord was self-retracting). Bags are hard to find locally - but they are available in 10 and 25 packs online. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that is looking for a no-frills vacuum with ample power.
