Deluxe edition for the win
By Papaw on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2025
I always loved playing Scrabble growing up and decided to purchase the game again. I came across this Deluxe Edition of the game and decided to try it. Great decision. The game was aggravating at times for me because someone would accidentally hit the board and it would cause the letters to move around. Not anymore! Each tile has little raised edges that guard against this. Love it. The addition of small wheels on the bottom of the game board is genius. It greatly improves the flow of the game by simply turning the board in the direction of each player. Also love the compartments that allow you to store and keep your pieces with the game.. If you find yourself thinking about purchasing another scrabble board game like we did, in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with this one…

This is not the "lazy Susan" deluxe edition you may think you're getting
By Jon Shemitz on Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2025
I've been playing Scrabble for decades, which means I'm an old fart. Lately, I've been finding that while I can *make* words upside down just fine, it's gotten harder to read opponents' plays, so I decided to get a deluxe edition. This is NOT the old deluxe edition on a lazy Susan. This is a weird piece of plastic which folds in half for storage, and rotates on four tiny little wheels that protrude from the bottom. Importantly, these wheels stick out on both sides of the folded board, so while it does rotate smoothly (at least while new) the wheels will catch against anything above or below it (or next to it) on your shelf. Durability seems low. Similarly, the racks are not the familiar old pieces of wood, but some cheap pieces of translucent plastic. While they do have a nice arc to them, and a lip which makes it easy to slide tiles without them falling out, they're just not as nice (or sustainable) as the old wooden racks. Again, durability seems low. The hinge is weird. There's no pin and knuckle like on a door; instead, there's some sort of flexy plastic that lets the two halves stretch apart if you should happen to pull on the sides in any way. You guessed it - durability seems low. The colors are drab and unsaturated, which is a valid enough aesthetic decision, I guess - but the special square colors don't match the colors on every other board you've ever played. Rather disorienting. And, look at the sloppy tile printing, with the baselines bouncing up and down! Overall, "what a piece of junk." This board is only saved from a 1-star rating by the nice slide-out trays to store the tile bag and racks in.
