LectroFan Fan/White Noise Machine

The only reason I give this 3 stars is that the quality seems to have declined when they make the product. I had this same fan that I bought a long time ago and it worked perfectly for about 6 years until the crackling noise started. So, I purchased this one to replace it. Within a few days the crackling started. Otherwise, this machine is the best for me- hands down. The noise is consistent, there are lots of options, and it doesn't loop. I need consistent noise like a fan that doesn't change (I can't use wave sounds etc). I am an extremely light sleeper and everything wakes me up, this machine is the only way I've been able to sleep well for many years. I work nights and it's often difficult to sleep during the day when everyone else is already up and making noise. Needless to say though, if the crackling starts, that ruins the consistency of the noise and it keeps me awake. I personally feel that it's still worth buying because you can fix the crackling with not much work. But I think it's ridiculous that you even have to attempt to fix this problem- when you buy a product it should work. HOW TO FIX CRACKLING: 1) DO NOT try and do anything if the unit is connected to power. Unplug the cord from the base of the machine. 2) Pull out rubber stoppers/feet at the bottom of the unit- this is where the screws are. 3) You will need a phillips screwdriver that is long and skinny. The screw size is standard but in order to reach the screws the tunnels are very narrow. Unscrew the 4 screws at the bottom and pop the bottom panel off. 4) You will see a small black and red cord which plugs into the back of the panel which has the buttons/controls. The part that plugs in is a little red piece. The cord is probably seated or slid into one or two notches to keep it in place. You can gently tug the cord out of the notches to make it easier to move. You want to gently unplug the little red piece from where it is. When you try to do this at first the panel will slide out which makes it easier to access. 5) Plug the little red piece back in securely, slide the front panel back into place, pop the cord back into the notches to keep it in place (pay attention when you do this- avoid setting it in a way where it's tugging on the red piece very much which could mess with the connection later) 6) Place the bottom panel back on, put the screws back in place (and tighten them), pop the rubber stoppers/feet back into place 7) Connect the unit to power and give it a listen ------------------------------ I tried this with both my new and old unit and it worked for both. If it doesn't work for you, I have read that some people needed to contact the manufacturer and get a new power cord. I'm hopeful that this helps someone.
