I had a bad smell in the washer due to wet clothes being left for 2 days. I tried washing the machine with laundry soap, bleach and clorox2...nothing worked it smelled awful. I saw this online and thought I would try it. IT WORKED with just 1 tablet. Now there are no smells at all!

Busted tablet packets seem to the tablets a less effective product! Inspect multiple tablet packaging and do it safely!

Hi Everyone. First Amazon Review; I have used this product over the last year; when I had a Sear's Repairman look at my Samsung HE Washer for leaking issues. This washer is a front loader and up near the top of the line back in 2009 or early 2010. He tore the unit apart in minutes; the top was off and he did a system board check; verified at least two wash load conditions to try and emulate the leak; then, removed the lower filter which requires month to month or two months of unscrewing a cylindrical filter but has a bleed hose procedure that must be done before opening the filter; opens the front door and a nasty odor comes about; I open the window next to the unit; and he says one more check; as he pulls the rear discharge waste water hose up to see the (warning this may be too literal for Non-House Cleaner 'types') dirt, grime, and human grease that fully coats the part of the waste hose in the drain pipe. He says everything seems normal but its the grease we eat; that soils our clothing and recommends this product; tells me Sears sells it and puts the washer back together and tests it once more. His assessment; grime & grease off our clothing particularly gym or exercise outfits 'stink' up the "drum" where the clothes are placed and He Detergents no longer have the sulfates to scrub the grease away and typically use 'fragrance' to trick the consumer into believing all is ok but this grime and grease when initially assessed will take 3 or 4 tablets of this product to use in first month without any clothing in the drum! Then one tablet every month for 3 months with the shortest Hot Cycle to aid in final grease removal. Then any left-over grime needs to be helped out manually; via paper towel or wipes; especially under the rubber covers where you can determine where the water-flows occur in the drum. Use your nose to locate these last grime holdouts. Thereafter, the subsequent treatment plan can vary between 2 to 3 months before needing another treatment. Well, he was right! The service call was about $85 for 40 minute call & the recommended Affresh product offer (which was individually packaged tablets 2 pkgs of 3 tablets each. He stressed safe, handling procedures to follow; in that you must be careful handling the product; wash your hands after each use, and not to breath the off gassing-vapors after taking a tablet out of its individual sealed plastic packaging! Handling: Take a pair of scissors, cut the package as you hold it over the drum about 1 to 2 inches above the drum. Do it to avoid touching the tablet but still handling the container package requires you to wash after tossing the packaging away. The product works as he explained but not when every tablet packet or packaging is busted open; thus, no seal what so ever! I could smell the fumes off-gassing from within the sealed bubble-wrapped shipping envelope! I sent it back via Amazon rules and got an exchanged product.but it took 3 days to get it another product. The originating product came from Texas! Wow, that was really quick. But, here come the bad news; 2 out of 5 packets had broken seals. I had a choice to make. Stay with a stinky washing machine for at least another 3-5 days until another replacement arrived but now I could not stand the smell and used the 2 open packets a day apart. Nothing good happened! Opened the third one but it was a sealed packet and after its use, guess what? The stink was going away but next week another tablet is going in and its going in a "hot", one hour cycle and I am pretty sure it will get to a clean fresh smell but I am through buying the five pack! The delivery or handling is somehow bursting the packets open and this is a guess but my background is Military trained as a machinist, mechanic, electrical and hydraulic technician with HVAC background, and some civil engineering afterward the Military Service. When I opened the newly arrived Amazon packaging; it did not seem so evident of open tablet packaging; in fact, it turned out 2 out of the 5 tablet packages had broken seals. So, I used the first two up as the drum smell was back but it took about 7 or 8 months before I re-started using the product and I could not find it at two local Sears Stores; but Amazon had it and in various packaging designs. These two tablets did not work very well; I'm on the third tablet now in two weeks but its the one of three that have a good seal on the package!
