First, this is not a traditional blender. It is more of an enhanced food processor with a stack of very sharp blades. I've cut my fingers several times just getting the blades out of the dishwasher. I won't let children near the machine because of the blades. Second, the motor base stopped working 3 months after it was purchased. They're sending a new motor base under warranty. However, when a device has been used around 4 or 5 times to make ice cream grasshoppers, a motor failure is a result of poor engineering or poor quality control and not due to use. I'll speculate that some plastic part within the motor unit failed to engage when the jar was locked to prevent operation. If you buy this, make sure to register it. They can register it when you call, but registering it ahead of time will speed the "script" a bit. To register, they'll need the serial number on a sticker on the bottom of the unit, and the 4-digit code that is engraved on one of the metal prongs of the wall plug. You may need a magnifying glass. Locate another receptacle to plug in the unit where you don't have to get on all fours because it's part of the "script". I used a bathroom receptacle.
