What's not to like about sleeping on bamboo?
By Ray Loobzer on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2016
So after researching numerous competing products (such as the apparently overrated "MyPillow"), I ended up purchasing this particular pillow based on the generally high Amazon reviews, and the clearly superior customer service described in many of them. I have tried a few pillows in my time, and the Snuggle-Pedic is now at the top of my list. It is a wonderful pillow deserving of the accolades seen here in its many Amazon reviews. I have been using it for about six weeks now and felt that it was probably a good time to write a review, so here goes. The shredded memory foam inside has been great to sleep on for the last six weeks, and far superior to the stuffing in normal cheap pillows we've been sleeping on for decades. Never again will I buy another pillow at Target, Walmart or Ross to be sure. The Snuggle-Pedic pillow keeps my cranial cavity elevated at a comfortable level without the weight of my head excavating a pit through the middle of the pillow down to the mattress bedrock. Nor do I find myself waking up with fused vertebrae in my neck from sleeping at unholy angles. The pillow is fairly heavy as well, for a pillow. Memory foam is not light like normal pillow stuffing. As a result I would not recommend pillow fights with these pillows, especially with children. One well-intentioned blow from one of these things will send your opponent crashing to the floor and down for the count. Having said all that, the only problem I can think of with the pillow itself is that the memory foam within does tend to moderately clump over time in one side or another. To keep it plump all around I have been picking it up by one end before bed and shaking the stuffing back together for a few seconds, which works fine. I have also tossed it in the dryer a couple times since it arrived which plumps it up even better as needed. This clumping is moderate, and really a minor issue for me. It certainly does not take away from my overall satisfaction in this product. I should also add that the bamboo covering on the outside of the pillow is very soft and comfortable, and does not seem to get too warm, as advertised I suppose. When I saw the pillow was named after and made of bamboo for some reason, I thought it was a bit ridiculous as I envisioned the outer covering of the pillow covered in long slices of sharp bamboo rods sewn together with jungle twine, stabbing my head and ears as I rolled around on it in my sleep. How this material is made of bamboo I do not know, which literally shows what I know (or don't know rather). Perhaps bamboo trees are actually filled with super-soft heat-resistant tropical stuffing that must merely be pulled out the ends. Or more likely, this company has mastered some arcane, alchemical process that turns bamboo into something that no longer resembles bamboo in any way. And to think I thought all bamboo was good for was scaffolding in the far east, tasteless filler in Chinese food, and a handy tool to cane the backs of malcontents in Singapore. I would certainly be interested to read a few details from Relief-Mart about what the heck their "viscose" of bamboo is, how it is made, and how it is used to make the pillow covering. This brings me to yet another question. Who walks around thinking about how they can turn bamboo trees into soft and cozy pillow covers? The Dr. Frankenstein who came up with this is clearly a special person. One wonders what could be on deck in the Relief-Mart laboratory, and whether the world is truly ready for kelp bedsheets. Speaking of the bamboo pillow cover, I would be remiss if I did not point out that this company also makes additional removable zipper-lined pillow covers (Zipper Removable Pillow Cover by Snuggle-Pedic - Kool-Flow Luxurious Bamboo Material - All USA Made (Queen Size)). These are made of the same bamboo material that the pillow itself is covered in, but unlike the pillow itself, these pillow covers have a zipper along one end. It's basically a bamboo pillow case to put around your Snuggle-Pedic bamboo pillow for an extra bamboo layer of protection I guess. It also provides me with an additional opportunity to use the word "bamboo" multiple times in each sentence. Relief-Mart actually sent me one of these in addition to the pillow, and I LIKE it. Oh and you know THAT I do. The entire pillow fits easily inside the pillow cover which can then be zipped up. Then the entire pillow can still be placed inside a normal pillow case after that. At least that's what I have done with mine. I like having the option to someday remove the pillow from the pillow cover and wash the cover by itself as needed should it magically find itself stained with foreign material or bodily fluids. Gross I know, but I'm just saying. This hasn't been necessary so far because I take long showers and am extraordinarily clean, but I do hope that when that day arrives, the pillow cover will have proven to protect the Snuggle-Pedic glory inside so that the pillow remains as pristine bamboo-white as it was on the day it popped out of the oven. So for those who hate looking at their stained, nasty little pillows with their pillow cases removed, I highly recommend you get one of these pillow covers as well to protect your pillow investment. And I say "investment" because by the time you buy the pillow and the cover, that's pretty much what it is. Which leads me to a short aside from the pillow itself. Yeah, the pillow is fairly pricey as you probably have already noticed, which is a bit of a bummer. I bought mine for $59.99, plus the cover is another $17.99 as I write this. That's nearly $80 for a really good pillow. I imagine that price is off-putting to many consumers, which is a shame. No doubt if they were cheaper, they would be much more widespread, and Relief-Mart would be dominating the market. As it is, I can only speak for myself when I say that it is probably a worthwhile investment for me considering I may potentially spend a third of the rest of my life laying my head upon this glorious pillow, and the bamboo that adorns it. I have my doubts that I will need to buy another pillow for a very long time now. Considering my wife and I would buy new cheap pillows every year or so after the others would go to crap, I will no longer be spending that money. So I guess I will have an eventual return on this investment a few years down the road, and I will have slept better for it. Ideally, the price on these will come down so more people can pick one up. But either way, I personally feel it is worth it. Lastly, the manufacturer offers free customization of the Snuggle-Pedic pillow if desired. I personally am more than content with the amount of material in mine and have no desire to send it off to their Orange County bamboo farm. But the fact that they do this at no cost to the owner is another feather in their cap if you will. For those who want more or less stuffing, you can have this done for free, which is pretty cool. So five stars from me. Snuggle-Pedic Bamboo pillow...Highly Recommended, and I'm out. Bup.

Customer service could be better, good product, really helps pain

I am a smaller person, for reference 5' 5", 115 lb. I've had neck and back pain for 2-3 years. I got the back pain sorted out with a new mattress and a 3" Nova form pad from Costco but the neck pain remained. My husband got a My Pillow but when I tried it, it was too lumpy, too tall and seemed to harden up as it warmed up. I have a whole collection of pillows that didn't work and I wanted to try this one because it was adjustable. However this came and had most of the same issues. Where it beats the My Pillow is that it doesn't sleep lumpy, it doesn't get warm during the night and it hardens up less. I sent it back and forth time after time trying to get the proportions of loft to softness right. It is nice that you can change the height (loft) and the softness. Each time you want to make an adjustment it takes two weeks for it to ship back to them and have them fix it and mail it back. My last effort was 55% more softness and 36% of the original material taken out and it was still too tall (and too hard). Finally I got fed up with the whole cumbersome process and opened up the seam enough to take some of the stuffing out. I now see that they are sending the pillows out with zippers so you can make your own adjustments. When I called to see if they would send me a new pillow cover they said no because you've voided your warranty (I'm still within the 90 days). Really? How does opening the seam and removing the stuffing vs opening a zipper and removing stuffing differ? And not once while it was going back and forth from the factory did they ever offer to replace the pillow case with one with the zipper or put a zipper in mine and send me a baggie of stuffing so I could make my own adjustments. Very poor customer service in my opinion and speaks volumes to the attitude of this company. And lest you think I don't know about customer service we own a auto repair business that is five star rated and a AAA Top Shop so I understand what good customer service is about. This was just disappointing because they had an opportunity to make it right and they chose not to take it. Having said that, this is still the best pillow that I have ever owned and I would recommend it despite the cumbersome process of having it adjusted. I'm sleeping better than I have in years and I've gone from an existence of total exhaustion to getting my energy back and feeling like my old self again. My neck pain is mostly gone now. I changed nothing else in my life but this pillow and I had despaired of ever feeling better again. So I'm very grateful and thankful to own this pillow and would recommend it. I would give it a higher rating except that customer service is part and parcel of the product.

Since you can't make more then 1 review on a product, I have added a 2nd review of this pillow below my first. I didn't buy it for me but for my husband who has Sleep Apnea... First a little info about why I purchased this pillow for myself. I am a Disabled Veteran. I broke my neck and back while on active duty. I also have severe Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since I broke my neck & back, I have ad 44 surgeries. 5 of those surgeries have been on my neck, and I am fused at C4/5, C5/6 and C6/7 and I have Titanium Plates and Titanium Screws in my neck <and more in my lower back!> so it takes a lot to get me comfortable. I also re-broke my neck 12 years after the first time <re-broke my back as well the same time>. I am on a long list of medication, to include having a Pain Pump surgically implanted in my body that gives me Morphine 24 hours a day. I also haven't had a decent nights sleep in over 10 years, and I usually only get anywhere from 2 to 4 hours of sleep a night, and get cat naps throughout the day.. For the past 4 years, I've been sleeping on a couch because I cannot lay flat and I need very firm support for my neck <and back too>. We've been trying to find a good mattress so I can actually sleep in my own bed, but I haven't found one that is comfortable enough and gives me enough support for my back. I also can't afford the hefty $7000 - $10,000 price tag on a Sleep Number or I Comfort bed, that would be perfect for me. I can't tell you how any pillows I've purchased over the past 25 years...but it is a ridiculous amount. Just in the past 6 months, I've bought 8 on Amazon, and at least 20 from Walmart and other stores here where I live. I have spent a LOT. The pillows I've gotten have been nice, but they go flat and get lumpy after a few weeks and don't hold up to what I need a pillow to do for me. I came back to Amazon because #1 - I cannot go shopping like most people, and # 2 - there are so many different pillows to choose from, I thought there had to be one for me. That's when I found the Snuggle Pillow made by Relief-Mart. I read all of the reviews, which aren't many, and made the decision to try it out. How many companies will let you try out a pillow for 90 days, and if you're not satisfied - you can send it back for a refund?? None that I know of. So yes, this pillow is pricey and I don't make a lot of money from my disability pay and $70 is a lot for me to shell out for a pillow, but if I don't like it I can get my money back. Before my pillow even got to me, the company sent me an email thanking me for my purchase. They told me a little bit about who they are, and how the pillow is made an how it will come to me, and told me if I ever had any questions not to hesitate to email or call. In my 8 years of buying on Amazon, I have never had a company email me, EVER! My pillow came within the time frame promised, in a box that I thought - wow they really do shrink it a lot!! They included a sheet with info about the pillow, and contact information as well. I took my pillow out of the box and it was rolled up like a sleeping bag and they sucked ALL the air out of it! I have to say, this pillow is substantially heavier then any other pillow I've owned <and that is a lot of pillows!> but not so heavy that it's difficult to handle. It took a little while to puff up to it's normal size which was fine as I got it early in the day. I did not notice any kind of smell that was so horrible it bothered me. It is foam and shipped in plastic so I knew there would be a light odor, but it really wasn't anything to complain about. Besides, you can wash it if it does offend you. I just put a pillow case on it and used it that night. That night was the first night in over 10 years that not only did I get 6 1/2 hours of sleep without waking up, but I also didn't wake up. Due to the Morphine and Vicodin and other meds I'm on, I get hot and cold and usually wake up cold from sweating. Not only did I wake up NOT sweaty or cold, but my neck felt pretty darn good! I can't remember when I've had such a good nights sleep, honestly. I've had this pillow for 5 days now, and I have had the best sleep ever. My neck isn't stiff, and doesn't hurt when I wake up I got another email from the company 2 days after I got the pillow asking me if I liked the pillow. Honestly - that really blew me away. I love that this company uses all U.S. made materials in their products and that they do not outsource their employees. Not only that, but how many companies back their product, and a pillow at that for 20, yes TWENTY YEARS? If my pillow ever goes flat, I return it for a new one. That is incredible. Obviously I can't say anything about how it has been over a long period of time because I've only had this pillow for just a week...but I will absolutely update my review after a month and every few months after that. I can't recommend this pillow enough. It's very well made with high quality materials and the exterior is extremely soft on my skin. The pillow is the best pillow I've ever owned and has given me the best sleep of my life since I broke my neck twice. The company obviously cares about it's customers because they've contacted me twice and I've only had it a week, so their customer service has far exceeded my expectations. A 90 day Trial with a full refund and a 20 year warranty?? AWESOME. I would do just about anything to get my health back, so to be able to get sleep, and a GOOD nights sleep at that, means a lot to me. To me, I would pay double what this pillow cost. I apologize for the lengthy review. I just wanted to anyone who reads my review to understand why I LOVE this pillow! Give it a try, you will not be disappointed! UPDATE Janary 29 2015: I purchased another Snuggle-Pedic Pillow for my husband. He has Sleep Apnea and uses a CPAP at night. He started sleeping on his back once he started using the CPAP, and he wakes up every day with a stiff neck and I think the people in the next county can hear his neck crack when he first moves his head/neck, not to mention he takes a lot of Motrin just to help loosen his neck a little every morning. I love my new S-P pillow, from day one, so I decided to get him one. He absolutely LOVES it. No more stiff neck, and the cracking has really been reduced. I haven't seen him take 1 Motrin since he got the pillow, so that's great. As far as I go - I still think this is the best pillow around. I am sleeping a minimum of 5-6 hours a night, which is far better then the 2-3 I was getting. It's made a huge difference in my health. UPDATE September 2015 ~ I've had this pillow for almost a full year now <got it Dec 2014> and I still LOVE it to death. Over the past 9 months, I've had the BEST sleep ever. Every single night I get at least 6 hours which has been a HUGE help to my health. I have washed it many times and it still looks brand new, and it still has the same fullness as when I first got it! There isn't one thing I could possibly say derogatory about this pillow. It is WELL worth every single dollar. Since getting our pillows, we were able to get a new bed <Thank you MF!!>that just makes everything about sleeping amazing. I no longer dread going to sleep! Thank you to everyone for all of your comments and help. I've had 5 more surgeries just this year so I didn't reply to a lot of you, but I did see the posts and appreciate all of your kind comments and help!

I was reserving judgement until I really slept some nights on this and I'm pleasantly surprised. I had an old solid memory foam pillow that I'd had for far too long as it was so there was nowhere to go but up, and I was intrigued by this being shredded memory foam. Read a ton of reviews first, but everyone is different in what they find comfortable, right? I obeyed all "fluffing" instructions and had no issues there, but was skeptical that it would support me regardless of being on my back or being on my side. I'm happy to say that it did, in fact, allow me to transition with no issues and I'm definitely waking up fewer times -- sometimes not at all -- during the night. I don't have any major medical or physical problems, just tended to wake up with a sore neck and/or arm from my previous pillows. I can't attest to the Kool Flow cover, unfortunately, because I use a satin pillowcase to avoid waking up with giant creases on my face, but even with that it sleeps cooler than my previous pillow did. I also have not tried to wash it yet so can't comment on that, either, right now. My one problem is that I do wake up with a sore ear from pressure, I guess, so I'm not sure if I need to mold it more or make a hollow or if there is anything I can do so if anyone has any suggestions for that, then I will happily change my review to five stars! I got the Queen size, which is perfect for me, though I have a King size bed and as other commenters have mentioned, it's heavier than a standard-fill pillow but not so much that it can't easily be moved or turned over. Overall, I'm pleased and satisfied with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a good, supportive pillow that's not outrageously expensive and performs as advertised! I'm also very happy with the customer service -- though I haven't had to use it -- that I've already received to ensure that I'm happy with my buy. Would definitely buy from this company again,
Potential customers...please use common sense! This is my experience.

Like others here, I've been trying to find the "right" pillow for me. My wife and I have bought different ones over the years. She's satisfied with the other expensive memory foam pillows we bought years ago. I slept one night on them...I take that back, I slept a half of a night on it before resorting to my regular pillow. I never could find the right pillow though. Either they were too firm or too soft. What drew my attention to this one was the reviews and secondly...the 90 day satisfaction money back promise, the (2 times) free customization promise and the 20 year warranty if it ever needs replacing. I called the company to speak to them before ordering (like I tend to do) just to double check and get clarification on their promises and the gentleman was extremely polite, professional and patient with me. The promises are cut and dry. No "gotcha" clauses. I ordered mine KNOWING that there may be a slight temporary smell that I don't like (from the reviews), that the pillow is NOT a solid block of memory foam but it's shredded foam (as it clearly says in the description here) and using common sense I know that I would probably have to send it in for customization to my personal preference after trying it out for a week or so. These things are a given, FOR EVERYONE .....so why people are leaving ambiguous and unfair 1 and 2 star reviews is beyond me. Almost all of the low star reviewers have not taken advantage of the free customizations, After the company tells them to contact them there are no updates as to their satisfaction and those that do update and tell how the company made it right do not change their ratings to coincide with the customer service they've received. I hope the more logical and reasonable potential customers reading this will take this into account when looking at their low rated reviews (that are unfairly and poorly written in my opinion.) It's like the reviewers are going out of their way to be difficult. Since a pillow's comfort depends solely on the person using it doesn't it make sense to have it customized BEFORE whining and complaining about how it feels? I am such a person. I got the pillow...yes, there was a slight smell in my opinion but nothing worth getting bent out of shape about. I mean...I could have washed it but I didn't feel like waiting hours for it to dry and besides...I believe VERY few of us sleep on a pillow without a pillow case anyway! Yes, the pillow cover I have for dust mites and the actual pillow case did mask the smell A LOT. No headaches or anything for me from the smell. I couldn't even smell it after the cover and pillow case was on. I am a side and stomach sleeper. The first night was pretty good, so I decided to go a week and then decide. I decided the pillow needed more stuffing for my personal preference because the foam would shift too much and the pillow would get too hard with my arm laying underneath it when I laid on my side. I called up Relief-Mart and told them my problem and asked what they suggested and the guy was super nice, told me what to do, they emailed me a return label--- so the customization WAS FREE. (It also has it in the description here on Amazon in big bold letters.) I received my pillow back (turn around times will vary due to how close you live to California) and it appears to be near perfect for me. I am very....I mean MORE THAN...satisfied with the pillow's comfort, the customer service and the warranty and promises they've kept! The company did everything they said they would to make sure the outcome was to my satisfaction. I no longer have stiff necks, the morning headaches or anything associated with the wrong kind of pillow. Again....KNOWING that each pillow's comfort level is dependent upon the opinion of the specific person sleeping on it I bought this knowing that I may have to modify the amount of foam that's in it. To deduct stars for that is ridiculous, they tell you that you can customize it before you even buy it...so why penalize them for making a standard pillow that can be modified? Why penalize the company for offering a 90 day money back guarantee? Or a 20 year warranty? I couldn't do that in all fairness. Relief-Mart customized my pillow to my personal comfort level. I waited until I had it customized before writing a review. Hell....even if I sent it back twice and it still wasn't right I could have still gotten a full refund so what would I have to complain about? Why would I have given them a low review for doing everything they could to make me satisfied? I sincerely hope other first time potential customers keep these things in mind when reading the low rated reviews and ordering this pillow. To give this anything other than a minimum of 4 stars is unfair when considering the fact they take every single avenue a company like theirs can to make sure you are satisfied with your outcome and experience, regardless if you keep the pillow or not. I wish more companies went out of their way for customers like Relief-Mart does. Also...when looking at the low rating reviews/reviewers...please notice that most, if not all, have NOT taken advantage of the free customization of the pillow for some odd and mysterious reason. To me...that's like going to an expensive clothing store and buying an expensive suit or new wedding dress and NOT having it tailored (ie..."customized") and then complaining it didn't fit off the rack. Doesn't make any sense, does it? Especially since it's free!

A Pillow From Heaven

For the past year I have been sleeping on a buckwheat pillow and initially liked it a lot. It was very firm and provided great support which I liked about it. The pillow however was heavy and for a side sleeper noisy (all you buckwheat pillow users know what I mean) but it was the best I came across thus far and served the purpose. Over the past month however I began to experience daily stiffness and pain in my neck. My better half suggested I try a different pillow and gave me her memory foam contour pillow. After 1 night however I knew that wasn’t the ticket so I went back to my buckwheat and began to search. From past experience I ruled out regular foam and down / feather pillows. In searching I came across the shredded memory foam pillows and became very interested in them. Though the price was high for most (of a decent quality) I thought I’d take a chance if it would help me. It finally came down between the Snuggle Pedic and a competing model with slightly higher reviews on Amazon. Given the made in America claim with a 20 yr warranty and 90 day money back guarantee .. the Snuggle Pedic was a no brainer and a clear winner hands down. My order was placed and I recently received the Queen size pillow even a day earlier than planned. During the wait Relief-Mart was very attentive to answer several emails with questions I had. Out of the box, the pillow arrived as promised - rolled and flat as a pancake. After only 5 minutes in the dryer however it was at full volume and looked great with nice loft. I must add that despite what some have noted, my pillow had absolutely no smell whatsoever when I got it. Even though the Kool-Flow pillow cover is really so luxurious and soft, I still chose to put the pillow in another pillow case just the same to keep it looking new. Also just a note – even though this was a Queen sized pillow – it did fit just perfectly in one of my standard size pillow cases. While I hated to see it go..I set aside my old friend buckwheat and lay the Snuggle-Pedic in its place. After trying my wife’s foam pillow I was at first skeptical but the first night on this pillow was like sleeping in heaven. The pillow was quite firm but in a giving way no matter what position I was in. Some people have complained about the lumps..yes you can feel them if you run your hand over the surface but once you lay your head on it - it just cradles your head ever so gently and you don’t even feel any bumps. I don’t think I will need any alterations made in the pillow but time will tell. As for now I am more than happy with the purchase and strongly recommend anyone considering this pillow to give it a try. With the guarantee and warranty offered by Relief-Mart you can’t go wrong. Also finally a word of thanks to my fellow shoppers and certain special Snuggle Pedic users (you know who you are) who responded to my inquiries…you were so very kind to do so and I am grateful. You were very helpful in my decision and I sleep well because of you. UPDATE: 4 days later now and my neck pain is gone. I have absolutely no complaints about this pillow. It is a great pillow for a great price and worth every penny. Again don't be afraid to give it a try if you are even slightly thinking of buying it. You can always send it back in 90 days and will have lost nothing..except maybe a good night's sleep if you pass it by...
one night is all I needed to know that I love this pillow

First off, I have only had one night with this pillow. However, I will update this review as necessary if any issues come to light in the future. That said, one night is all I needed to know that I love this pillow. The pillow itself is actually somewhat heavy, but I like this as it gives it a feeling of high quality. The material of the pillow also feels of high quality and is very soft. I don't know how well the "kool-flow" (why is it spelled with a "k"?) technology is actually working (i.e., the mesh-like fabric), but the pillow stayed cool enough during the night. Most cheap pillows that I have used are VERY fluffy and thick at first, almost to the point where it makes my neck uncomfortable and I look forward to the day when the pillow breaks down a bit so it's more flat. However, when cheap pillows begin to break down they become a pain to manage - I constantly find myself folding my cheap pillow over itself to get the elevation of my head correct. After a few months of using the same cheap pillow that I bought from Target, the thing has become absolutely terrible. I have finally ascended into pillow greatness with the Snuggle-Pedic Ultra-Luxury Bamboo Shredded Memory Foam Pillow. This thing is the real deal. When it's shipped to you, it arrives rolled-up, almost flat, in vacuum-sealed plastic wrap. After removing the packaging and throwing the pillow in the dryer for a few minutes (as per the instructions), the pillow enlarges to a normal size. After seeing how small it started as, I was skeptical that this thing would offer any kind of support for my head. Well, it does. When I rest my head on the Snuggle-Pedic Ultra-Luxury Bamboo Shredded Memory Foam Pillow, it sinks down just a little bit and is quickly cradled by the shredded memory foam, creating a very comfortable surface. Unlike cheap pillows, your head does not sink down to the point where you are almost suffocated by the rest of the pillow. This thing is supple. Also, this pillow comes with a pretty killer warranty. In addition to being able to send the pillow back to the factory for free customization (if you find the pillow too thick or too thin, etc.), you can return it for a full refund within 90 days. That's 3 months! Honestly, I don't see how you can go wrong with such a warranty system in place. You can tell that customer service is extremely important to this business and that is something that I appreciate. (Heads up: keep the tag if you decide to remove it from the pillow in case you need to use the warranty service.) I haven't tried very many expensive pillows. In fact, in my life, I have probably only used a handful of different pillows, sadly. Not anymore. I now understand the value of having a high-quality pillow and I will continue to invest in such a product as it is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to improve my quality of life to a somewhat high degree. Try this pillow; you will not be disappointed.

I have to admit I'm very skeptical when it comes to any pillow living up to what it promises. I have been through A LOT of pillows. My first night of sleeping on this pillow was wonderful! I slept like a rock and woke up feeling rested with no neck and shoulder pain. I'm a side sleeper and it is the only pillow I have ever had that supports my neck, takes the pressure off my shoulder and doesn't go flat! I've been sleeping on it for a week now and I am VERY happy! (I use an inversion table to keep my very bad neck and hips aligned. Even with inversion therapy, if I don't sleep on a good pillow then I'm just inverting to undo the nightly damage. A good pillow lessens my need to hang upside down every single morning just to get through the day. I think I've finally found that pillow!) When you receive this pillow it will be packed in "space bag" type packaging with all the air sucked out. Don't worry! This is not a flat pillow! It started to fluff up pretty quickly, but I popped it in the dryer for a few minutes and WOW. This is a thick pillow but pliable so that it conforms to my head and neck without holding me in a position that is unnatural. Because the filling is not solid memory foam, the pillow is easy to form and reform based on my personal shape and how I'm lying down or sleeping. Relief Mart, the manufacturer of the pillow, contacted me via email within 24 of placing my order to make sure I understood what to do once I unpack the pillow, and to see if I had any questions. Very impressive! Customer service is not dead!!! They also told me "We take great pride in supporting local jobs by using all U.S. made materials and do not outsource our staff..." I responded to the email and got a response within 24 hours. They stand behind this pillow!! The simple-to-read-and-understand documentation that came with pillow clearly states that the pillow comes with a 90 day money back guarantee and a 20 YEAR WARRANTY. It can be machine washed and dried. Popping it into the dryer for a few minutes will cause it to return to its factory shape, though I have not needed to do that. Some reviewers have talked about a smell. I am really sensitive to smells--I mean REALLY sensitive! The first thing I did when I took it out of the package was get a good deep whiff--stinky would be a deal-breaker for me. I could smell the filling a little, but it is not strong and not stinky. To me it resembled the smell of bamboo. I keep pillow protectors on my pillows to minimize the frequency of need to launder them. However, even with just a pillow case on this pillow I can't smell anything. This pillow does not stink! I highly recommend this pillow to anyone, but especially to anyone who lives with pain. I great pillow is life-altering. This is a great pillow. I will update this review as time goes on. Please let me know if this review was helpful or if you have questions.
First Impression is: Best Pillow I've ever owned!

I have slept on this pillow 1 time so far, so this will be my First Impression Review. I recently upgraded from a standard mattress that was 20 years old to a Memory Foam mattress. It took a little getting used to the much firmer bed, but, has been totally worth it so far. As much as I love my new mattress, there is one problem that became glaringly apparent as soon as I laid down for bed that first night. I felt like I was laying on the bed with my head hanging off the edge. My once soft fluffy, mildly adequate pillow now felt paper thin and provided ZERO support! I realized that with the firmer mattress, my body doesn't sink into the mattress anymore, and my head now is permanently at a 25 degree angle instead of the preferred 90 degrees. It only took that first night before I began the search for my new pillow. I started to scour the internet looking for any and all pillows, I read reviews, looked up ratings. What I found is that everybody claims to have created the perfect pillow. I was at a bit of a loss. Luckily I stumbled across this pillow in a review that compared several of the "best pillows ever made" against each other. I read all of the pros/cons, and then made my decision. I personally have never spent more than $15 on a new pillow in my life, but I'm getting a bit older, and the pain in my neck is becoming more noticeable with every passing year, so, I thought, if it's as good as they say, and the reviews claim, it might be worth it. I swallowed the $60 pill and pressed checkout. I received the package 2 days later, and hurried up to open it. It was vacuum sealed and rolled up like a tightly wound burrito of comfort. After carefully removing it from the saran wrap like plastic covering, I set it on the table for a few mins to let it "re-inflate" as it looked like it just got ran over by a steam roller. After about 10 mins, it hadn't gotten any "fluffier". I grabbed the note that came in the packaging with the pillow, and right there it says... Toss it in the dryer for 10-20 mins if it doesn't fluff back up right away, so, off to the laundry room I went. Tossed it in, set it to 20 mins, and waited. When the buzzer went off, I checked on it, and the closest thing I can think of to compare it to would be microwave popcorn. You put in a flat package, and out comes something that has expanded to 10 times its original size! Well, maybe not that much, but, it was fluffed to the max now, and ready for some good quality testing. I took it to my bed and laid on it for a few mins, but, I couldn't give it the quality test it deserved due to the smell. The smell was a bit more than I could handle, and almost made my lungs hurt... I had read about this in other reviews, and was prepared. I tossed it in the washer on cold. I have a front load, so I had to add a couple gallons of water above what the washer normally washes with to ensure it was sufficiently soaked. I let the wash complete, however, I do not recommend running the spin dry option with this pillow as it will be WAY out of balance. I just tossed it soaking wet into my dryer on "Extra Dry, Delicate/low temp" setting and let it run as long as it needed to. When I took it out, it had no more smell to it, and it was still just as fluffy as ever. I'll admit, I was a bit worried having spent $60 on a pillow and it smelled like a tire melting factory when I got it, but 1 wash was all it took and the smell was completely gone. Now... on to that test I've been looking forward to so much. ZzzZzzZzz..... WOW! I didn't want to get out of bed I was so comfortable. It conformed to my head/neck perfectly. My head was maybe a little warmer than with my $15 Wa***art pillow, but I was not sweating, or overly warm. Keep in mind that I've only slept on this one night so far, but already my neck is feeling better. I am quite impressed so far. First impression: Love it. Pros: - Fast shipping - Amazing customer support and communication - Looks like it has a good warranty, and based on my interaction with the company so far, I’d assume they’ll stand by it 100% - Supportive - Fluffy - Malleable - Machine washable/dryable - Comfy! Cons: - Bad smell when it is brand new (easily taken care of with a wash) - Takes a while to fluff up initially (easily taken care of by the dryer) - $60 (most expensive pillow I've ever bought, but... I'd say so far it's totally worth it!) I will update later once I've slept on it for a while. :) Update (I've owned this for almost 4 years now): still the best pillow ever. It is still fluffy and comfortable. Washes easily. If you're on the fence, buy it!
Firm Pillow -- With Just The Right Amount Of "Give"

I've cycled through several memory foam pillows over the years, and I think this one is my favorite. As a side sleeper who often switches sides throughout the night, I need a pillow that is both thick and firm -- but with just the right amount of give. In the two months since I purchased the pillow, it's provided my tired head with that elusive sweet spot: firm and supportive, but with just enough give to make it comfortable. Whether it stands up to the test of time, however, remains to be seen. (I will provide an update to this review in a few months.) In the meantime, I attached a series of photos demonstrating the "firmness" versus "give" of this bamboo pillow. When it comes to pillows, I've yet to find that perfect one. But here are five major things I've learned in my quest to discover the perfect pillow for me... ~ If you are a side sleeper, then you need a memory foam follow. Forget down or anything else. Only memory foam has the firmness and consistency that a side sleeper requires. ~ Over time memory foam loses density. Period. You can buy yourself some extra time by flipping the pillow every night, but it's only delaying the inevitable. While it's true that some purportedly high quality pillows last longer than cheaper ones, I've found that the differences are marginal. If you rest your head on the same pillow every single night, then you need to replace it about every 16-20 months. Manufacturers will drone on and on about 5-year warranties and how their pillow lasts for years and it's total BS. Nowadays all these pillows are made in China and are super inexpensive, anyway. You can budget for a new $35 pillow every 18 months, believe me. (Please note: I am referring only to memory foam pillows. A high quality down pillow that's well taken care of will last for a long time -- perhaps as long as ten years.) ~ Size and feel are more important than quality and cost. There's no point in spending more than $60 on a memory foam pillow. You can easily find a good pillow in the $30-50 price range. While it's sometimes true that the more expensive ones last a bit longer, it makes much more sense to buy an affordable pillow and simply replace it more frequently. I cannot emphasize this enough: the size, thickness, firmness and feel of the pillow matter WAY more than anything else when it comes to pillows. That being said, I wouldn't purchase anything too far below $30. ~ Don't wash it. If you're getting a memory foam pillow shipped, then it'll emit a kind of chemical smell after you remove it from the box. Just let it air out for 48 hours and it'll go away. Afterwards, encase the pillow in two layers. The first layer should be one of those close-fitting pillow protectors that protect against allergens and hair and body oils. (It'll also shield you from any irritants residing in the pillow.) The second layer will be your regular pillow cover. Do that and you're good to go. Don't listen to the manufacturers about washing the pillow. It's a huge hassle and a massive waste of time and energy. Remember, these things are basically disposable. They're not like a down pillow that you're going to have for years and years. ~ There's no such thing as a perfect pillow. Everyone's needs are different, and yet there are no "bespoke" or tailored pillows customized for an individual. So even though I often find pillows that I like, I've yet to find a perfect one for me. And that stands to reason because no one's ever tried to design and manufacture a pillow tailored to my specific needs. I am a side sleeper, and the following advice is intended solely for side sleepers. Over the years, I've found that a side sleeper needs a medium-firm to firm pillow that is also thick enough to maintain a 90 degree angle where the head meets the shoulders. That's the same angle that naturally occurs while you're awake and going about your business throughout the day. If the head sinks too low when you sleep, then it puts strain and pressure on your neck. Someone with wide shoulders will need a thicker pillow -- unless of course they have a proportionally large head and thick neck, in which case the pillow might not need to be any thicker than someone with narrower shoulders. Additionally, one must factor in the firmness of their mattress. If your mattress is on the soft side, then a side sleeper's shoulders will sink farther into the mattress, leaving less space between the shoulder and head and thus requiring less thickness in the pillow. Conversely, a firmer mattress necessitates a thicker pillow in order to compensate for the increase in space between the shoulders and head.
