So I recommend for several reasons but I also listed warnings to be prepared for if you own “unique” cats. Also, it took less than 2 hours for them to accept it. Good things: 1. My cats hate splashing or noisy fountains so this is A++ in regards to that. 2. I’ve had it for over approx 2 months and haven’t had any issues. 3. Affordable. 4. I have 4 cats and all but one use it (the last one is old and only drinks out of the bathtub because she just enjoys being difficult) Warnings (not necessarily bad things, just things to be prepared for.) 1. The material is plastic so it isn’t heavy. My cats try to push it around in an attempt to knock over the water reservoir. 2. Reservoir is clear which you think…oh, this will be so handy so the motor won’t burn out and I’ll know when to refill. …NOPE. My cats can see the water so they try to knock it over. I use painters tape to make sure they don’t knock it off which isn’t that hard to do when a cat really goes at it. 3. Cleaning the fountain every refill is an absolute must. My cat likes to try to “catch” the water before drinking which effectively removes all dirt from his paws and adds them to the water. Yes, there is a filter for the fountain part but the bottom area after two days you’ll see dirt at the bottom. It makes me feel like I need to hire a maid because I THOUGHT my floors were better cleaned. 4. Cleaning the reservoir isn’t the easiest and my area has heavy minerals in tap water. I use my fridge water to try to filter out most but I do wish I could just replace that piece. Keep in mind the tape I have to use to keep it in place have left marks since I used packing tape the first time. 5. About every 2-3 days I unplug it to give the motor a break. It’s normally really quiet except after a few days of straight running and when it’s empty. So I just let the motor take a breather overnight when I start to hear a noticeable hum and it goes back to normal volume when I plug it back in. Overall, I would buy this product again if my current one breaks. I like this 10x better than the popular bubbly or faucet style fountains. So hope my warnings help. I do have some crazy cats that won’t just drink water like a normal cat and try to pry at the water container and plays in it but they are definitely staying better hydrated than with basic bowls and that’s all I really care about.
