Bricks fit pretty well with other major brands. This is an unbeatable price for a large amount of bricks.

My daughter is a huge Lego fan. It’s the type of toy that you really can’t have too much of. When we have some free time together my daughter and I will often build huge structures and both have a blast doing it, so I’m always looking for ways to expand our collection. Bricks are pretty expensive, so I was thrilled to find this set. The colors are great and the variety is exactly what we wanted. Here’s what we think of them after playing with them a bit: -Amount: We painstakingly counted them out and here’s what our bag contained broken down by color. This is a generous amount of bricks that will help with all your wonderful creations. 60 roof pieces (20 light pink, 20 purple, 20 white) 109 Light green pieces 133 Dark pink pieces 132 Light pink pieces 131 Purple 132 White 101 Light blue 103 Yellow 102 Tan 1,003 Pieces Total -Fit: There are a lot of mixed reviews about the fit. I’m going to post a few pictures of some Lego, Mega Blocks and these bricks used together. No, it’s not 100% perfect, I would say it’s about 97% perfect if I had to give it a number. For the price and the off brand, I really wasn't expecting perfection. I just want something that works and we can have fun building with. We don’t do Lego competitions or anything, we just enjoy playing with them at home. The difference we found is these bricks “snap” on and off a little more. They require a little extra effort to get them apart. This makes me extremely grateful they didn't include many of the flat pieces, which are already a pain to get apart. They also do have ever so slightly wider seams occasionally. My 10 year old didn't notice at all until I pointed it out. -Assortment: Each color has a mixture of regular height: 2 x 6, 2 x 4, 2 x 3, 2 x 2, 1 x 6, 1 x 4, 1 x 3, 1 x 2, 1 x 1, flat 2 x 10 and a few flat L shaped bricks. I LOVE that there’s not many flat bricks, they are super annoying to pull apart and I have broke my nails many times trying to wedge them apart. Each color in my set has 2 of those I believe and 6 of the flat L’s. The 60 roof pieces are awesome. I love that it came with an even number of each color, so we can build a roof with 60 pieces and have it all a cool matching pattern. -Price: I was lucky enough to grab this as a lightening deal. I worked it out to my price being $0.03 a brick, regular price being $0.039. I looked at a few similar Lego sets and their prices were $0.065, $0.067, $0.075, $0.075 per brick in the 4 sets I compared. Although, those sets do come with some extra specialty pieces (doors, windows, wheels). Realistically, when I buy an “off brand” of something, I am aware that there’s a good chance it’s not going to be as perfect as the original. This is no exception, but it’s very close. For the price I think it’s a wonderful deal. If you want a set with lots of unique pieces or you want every single piece to be 100% perfect (rather than 97%), it might be better to buy the name brand. If you want a large amount of bricks that work well and are good colors, this is your set!

Not Bad, Not Great

I just received this set and I was very much prepared to love it. I had a vision of the perfection of Legos at a fraction of the price. These fall short of that ideal but they are still worth considering depending on your situation. First, these are far less expensive than Legos. After taking size of pieces into account, I think this set is less than 1/3 the price of Legos. I bought the 650 piece Builder of Tomorrow set on sale at Toys R Us for around $30. It is very nice but as another reviewer said it is mostly small pieces. If you define a large piece as 2x4 or greater it has 7% large pieces. I love Legos but they are very expensive and any effort to provide a high-quality alternative is much appreciated. The first thing I did was try to tried to break a few pieces applying reasonable pressure and none of them broke. They look a lot like Legos, the exterior dimensions appear to be the same. Oddly, the walls of the off-brand appear to be slightly thicker, and in comparing the underside of the 2x4 I see that that the Lego has a single cross-beam only on the middle cylinder while the off-brand has three cross-beams, one on each cylinder. The finish on the Legos is nicer. They are shiny, unmarred, and have clean lines. The off-brand has random, small vertical lines in the finish, like the lines in my fingernails now that I'm no longer young. There are occasional bigger imperfections, knots and small gouges that the Legos don't have. That said, none of that would make the slightest difference to a bunch of kids playing with blocks but it does speak to a difference in quality. The fit on the Legos is nicer too. Every Lego I've tried is perfect, with a silky feel to the connect, and a easy but satisfying snap to the disconnect. These are variable, they just don't have the same tolerance control. Some feel like Legos, some are really hard to put together, some are too soft. Also, I did find one piece that was completely out of whack and did not hold at all. That said, again, for the most part these blocks are usable. The colors are very close, so close that I had to concentrate to see the difference. I looked at blue, red, yellow, white, and dark green, and they were all close. When I alternated the two brands in a stack it became somewhat more obvious but unless you are looking for it, it isn't really a problem. I'm a little sad about writing this review. I had hoped that these would be as good as Legos without the hefty price tag. And I would have bought more of them but that isn't going to happen. If you are a Lego aficionado, these are definitely not for you. They are not of the same quality. But if you have a bunch of kids that play Lego together and you are just looking to extend the pool of blocks, these are a good deal. Yes, there might be a occasional dud that gets tossed, but overall these blocks work OK.
