It works!

Great little filter! I can't attest to the cartridge that it came with tho bc I have my own filter media that I prefer to use. I use these filters as backup filters mostly and to keep the water clean/clear bc there's no such thing as "too much filtration" and in case something terrible happens to my main filters. I just ordered another one of these for a 5.5 gallon QT tank that has a crappy bulky filter hanging on it. This will be perfect to just stick some cheap filter floss in since the QT tank is currently occupied and running meds. Love how simple it is to adjust the flow and seems to be as durable as my Aquaclears. So far I haven't found any rogue cherry shrimp hanging out in any of these that I'm using so that's a plus. Pretty quiet too! Definitely better than the other small filters I've tried in the past and these haven't broken down on me so I definitely recommend!

NOT to be used even on low with snails or tadpoles!!!!

I wanted so badly to get a filter that would keep our 5 gallon plastic tank clear. I have been doing complete water changes every 3 days because of how cloudy the water got. We have 2 tadpoles both with their back legs and 26 pond snails, and a floating plant. I did not buy the pond snails they came with a plant. I feed algae wafers every other day. Needless to say I was so excited to put this filter in. I put it on the lowest setting. The snails would attach to the plants and then end up blown around the tank. By morning the tadpoles were floating on top and appeared dead. All the snails looked dead too. I took it out right away. The tadpoles seem better and I am hoping they live. I see 6 snails currently starting to come back out of their shells. I sure hope most are alive. When we move the tadpoles to their 20 gallon frog tank, I would try this with a betta. However this will not allow me to keep snails in it because of the sound. I am very nervous it would bother a betta fish too. IF you have TADPOLES,SNAILS OR SHRIMP I do NOT RECOM this filter. The TADPOLES did die and so did 20 pond snails! I have 6 little guys left.
