Works EXTREMELY well

We are having a terrific year for cherries in the NE and one of our local orchards has a bumper crop, so I decided to pick and freeze cherries this year. I had watched a video on YouTube about this particular pitter, which is how I found it on Amazon. I used the Casabella Cherry Pitter to pit 20 pounds of Bing cherries that I picked last week. I did a small bowl using just a knife and it took me more than half an hour. The pitter arrived the next day and then I proceeded to polish off the rest of the cherries in about an hour. This works best on firm cherries... push briskly and the pit pops right out. On riper (softer) cherries, it might require an extra push or two since the stone tends to slip around inside the cherry. Or else it punches through but remains attached, which is just a second to pull it off. You will still get cherry-stained hands, but the splash screen (the clear plastic part at the bottom) definitely helps contain the cherry juice. The only downside would be if the cherry is bigger than the opening, but I didn't have that problem. A friend of mine bought one as well and he attests that it also works great for pitting olives. One of the best kitchen gadgets I've ever purchased.

First saw this item in my sister-in-law's kitchen, as she effortlessly pitted Rainier cherries. Very simple, works every time, is very affordable. What's not to like?
Love it

Great little gadget if you have a lot of cherries to stone. Leaves the fruit looking whole which makes them easy to use or freeze.
