Better performance than initial unboxing experience
By L Chewski on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2017
I was a bit skeptical upon unboxing all the tubing, connectors and panels from the box. 1st the panels are like the gas station paper towels for wiping your car windows except it has a plastic cling wrap bonded to it. Also the panels where only 20" wide when the rack width is supposed to be 24". The plastic corner connectors are pretty thin plastic. Many of the .5" rolled metal tubing has split ends. Once I assembled the corner connectors to the side tubing and slipped them onto the horizontal tubing with the panels on, the shelf assembly was nice and taut. Once a few panels were assembled together, the overall structure was pretty plum/straight and stiff enough with a bit of twist and roll. With the full 10 tiers stacked on, overall height reached nearly 59". The real test was whether 3 pairs of adult male shoes can fit onto one shelf. Indeed 3 pairs of size 10 loafers fit edge to edge. Why didn't the product marketing pictures demonstrate that. The only thing I would do is to reposition heavier shoes to the bottom so lighter, smaller sized shoes are on the top to avoid potential tip over hazard. Seriously I'm going to install some wall straps since I have the shoe rack in a high traffic garage pathway. Now the path is clutter free compared to before installing the shoe rack. I'm much happier than from the 1st impression. I'm saving the instruction paper as the manufacturer phone number is on it for any issues. 1 yr update 6 months ago, I had a horrible collapse as I never got around to install the bracing. The daily use cause some twisting and the plastic parts started to split apart. A whole bunch of them. I called HDS and they sent replacements. So I pulled everything apart and reinstalled with proper wall bracing. The rack is still holding up.

Bug included!

BEWARE! Cockroach was inside package, crushed into one of the fabric pieces that hold the shoes. I noticed a small stain on one of the pieces of fabric and thought it was odd. I thought perhaps it was a used/returned product. Anyway, I continued putting it together and when I got a through a few more rows, I noticed another stain on another fabric shelf, this time it was larger. It looked kind of like black gum stuck into the fabric. At this point I had many shelves already assembled. I figured it was "good enough" since I'd be putting shoes on it and it would eventually get dirty anyway. I proceeded to assemble the last couple of shelves and found the culprit of the stains. There was a cockroach sticking out of where the fabric gets folded and sealed (where a pole slides through). It was the full bug. Dead. But still in tact, squished between the fabric. I have pictures. I pray there are no eggs anywhere. I washed what I could of the fabric, and chunks of the bug broke off and floated down the kitchen sink drain. However, there is still staining from the bug guts and pieces of the bug are still stuck where the fabric was sealed together. I've decided just not to use that shelf, and have the product be one tier short. I would have asked to return it if I hadn't already spent the last 45 minutes assembling the entire thing. It's still completely disgusting and I'm creeped out by the entire thing!

Good for organizing the closet

This shoe rack is nothing fancy, but it serves its purpose. It's fairly simple to put together once you figure out which piece goes where (no thanks to the directions, since none of the bags were labeled correctly). Took about 30 minutes to assemble the 4-tier rack. I actually screwed up a couple times and had to take some pieces back apart again because I kept accidentally putting connectors on sideways or upside down. Some of the rods were cut weirdly, making them a little difficult to shove into the connectors, so a rubber mallet would have helped. I don't own a mallet, so instead I had to pound them in with my palm, which made my hands sore by the end of the assembly process. The rack fit in the closet nicely. I was able to get 12 pairs of shoes on there, freeing up floor space in the closet. This rack makes the closet look much more organized. As far as the metal, it's not the most substantial heavy-duty rack in the world. It would probably blow away on a windy day, but as long as you don't bump into it in your closet, it should be fine. I already ordered another rack because the first one wasn't enough. My only complaint is that the shelf height is not tall enough to accommodate ankle boots or anything with a heel.
Perfect for our small space. It helps keep all of our shoes organized and off the ground.

We have a huge shoe problem. We are a family of 4 and all of use love shoes and have multiple pairs we like to have handy. With some reorganization we found a small area by the door from the garage that I realized would fit a shoe rack perfectly. I wanted a tall, skinny one to maximize the space. Here's a few thoughts after having this for over 4 months and using it everyday: -Assembly: The assembly does take a little time. I would estimate 20-30 minutes. It's not difficult, but since there are 10 tiers it's a little tedious. I highly recommend you really pay attention the placement of the little plastic connectors. It's easy to put them in the wrong direction. I also found that assembling each tier was easiest, then placing them on top of each other. -Quality: These are on the cheaper side, but that's why they are inexpensive. I haven't had any issues with them (I have recently bought 2 more of varying sizes). I haven't had any tip over, sag, fall apart or anything else. -Function: This is perfect for us. It holds plenty of shoes. My kids know right when they come in from the garage to put their shoes on here. It keeps shoes off the floor and helps keep my living room organized. Overall, I can honestly say I love this. I bought a 10 tier one for my closet that is wider and love that one too. It's not the most attractive, but it's a great price and gets the job done!
Hard to build and very fragile

This thing was so hard to put together. The fabric that goes across the bar has to be pulled so taut and it’s difficult to get all the bars connected. Also on the shelves fabric ripped when I was attempting to put it together. I assembled it as per the instructions so it should not have been damaged while putting it together. After going through all that, it does work well and looks fine, i put the torn shelf on the bottom so you don’t really notice. For $10 bucks it’s not the worst but I would spend a little more for something sturdier. UPDATE: This thing is super cheap, 2 of the rows have already ripped. literally the smallest bump and the material holding up the shoes tears. Just get a different product.
Just Ok for the price.

I got this a few months ago, and it was working fine until... it fell over. The force of the impact caused some of the little plastic connectors to break. Oh well, looks like I'm out 30 bucks. As a rack which sits in your closet, out of view, it's ok. Doesn't look stylish, but will hold a lot of shoes. Materials are on the cheap side, but it assembles quickly and seemed sturdy enough. In retrospect, you may want to anchor it to a wall with a cord and a nail. The problem is a design flaw -- there's no room to fit boots on the lower shelves, so you have to put them on the top one. This could cause imbalancing, especially if you don't have heavy shoes on the bottom shelves. Lesson learned. I initially got this to fit a small space at the back of my closet which measures 33.5". The 10-tier regular rack is 24" wide. Most other racks are 36-39." So the size was a prime consideration. Anyway, i will be buying something sturdier and (unfortunately) more expensive.
I love it but it's really big!

This is very fabulous and very large. (I ordered the 10 tier wide) I luckily had enough space to put it against my wall and I like looking at my clothes and shoes so It's good for me but it definitely wouldn't fit in my average apartments sized closets. I'm 5'8" and assembled the top shelf sit's at eye level with me. It seems pretty sturdy and it was pretty easy to put together. The instructions are pictures and I'm NOT very good at interpreting instructions but after 10 minutes I figured out exactly how to line up the poles and slide the fabric shelves into place so I liked how they looked and then it took about 10 minutes to finish assembling the rack. Every shelf is the exact same construct and parts, you just stack them on top of each other which is good if you want to customize the height and the fabric shelves can be left out to make more room for boots or platform heels (maybe some disco kings would be interested in that fact) which is also convenient. Like I said I enjoy looking at my clothes and shoes which is why I gave 5 stars but it looks ridiculous. If you don't want a prominent display this rack is too large for most bed or living rooms, it is wider and taller than my tall Broyhill wardrobe style dresser which was the largest piece in the room until this shoe rack. In a garage or basement it would probably look more reasonable.
An interesting experience

When it arrived I was shocked to see a near flat box and its light weight. I opened the box and instantly started doubting my choice. There was a bunch of pipes and sockets. I went into deeper doubt. I got a disappointed look and huff from my wife after i spread out the contents of the box. Undeterred I decided to go ahead and put together the pieces of this suspect project. Tier by tier this shoe rack grew and louder and louder my wife's criticism. I kept investing time, sweat and tears (caused due to listening to my wife nagging me about how much money I waste ordering useless stuff from amazon). I braved ahead and put it all together and there it was, 10 tier shoe rack. It housed 30 pairs of shoes. Clearly made of cheap and light materials. Good looking it's not. Sturdy it isn't. But then i remembered what i paid for it and it brought a smile to my face. I put it in its place and put all the shoes on it. It uncluttered the entire hallway and it fit perfectly where we wanted it to. Once the shoes are on it, it becomes stable with the weight. It doesn't look bad because its covered in shoes and thats what it was meant to do. Perfect. Wife in the back nodding in agreement.
It works, it fits, but is a NIGHTMARE to assemble

I should have known what I was in for. First off, I will say the product works and we have two others that have held my girlfriend's shoes now for 2 years. So having said that they work, lets get to the bad. The biggest downfall with this product is assembly. There are literally 150 pieces that need to be assembled. These include the support pipes (of which their are 3 different lengths) and the joints. Once you get the idea of which pieces fit where, it is not too bad. The bad comes when its time to put everything together. A hammer is almost essential as well as some light gloves. The metal pole ends are sharp. They also don't fit well into the joints. You physically need to hammer them in place. Even then, the whole assembly is an extremely tight fit and not quite symmetrical. However, having said that, it works. It fits perfectly in our closet in our new home next to the two other racks.
Hard to put together but was perfect for my needs once done

I needed something for half the space inside my closet and this unit fit perfectly albeit I had to go only 6 shelves high. The only plus with assembly was no screws and no wrench is needed BUT you must use a hammer or mallet to get the connectors in deep enough so that the poles are not warped enough to break the fabic on the shelf, which is what happened to me on the first shelf. Once I started using the mallet it was pretty smooth then and I just used duct tape on the shelf I tore to repair (not such a big deal since my shoes will sit on top of the tear). Will post a picture.
