NV751 wins against the Dyson Compact Ball Hands Down!!!
By WstCstCtyGrl on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2016
So a year ago I bought a Dyson Compact Ball. I lived in an 850spft apartment that had mostly carpet. I also had one dog with a lot of long hair that sheds ALOT. It was great suction and maneuverability but I could barely get under the very edge of any furniture. Then I moved into a slightly bigger house half carpet half hard wood and got a second dog. The suction seemed to be less and less, despite regularly cleaning the filter and I had to use a broom to sweep beneath all my furniture or move everything to get up the dog hair. And I usually had to empty it at least two times before I was done.I saw an advert for the Shark on a plane and wondered if it could meet my needs. Today it arrived and it 100% lives up to my expectations!First I purchased the NV751. Yes you can get the true pet version slightly cheaper at Bed Bath and Beyond, but I wanted the Rose Gunmetal - which is really a lovely metallic lavender/ silver-gray lavender. For me it was with the added $20. Now as I spent so much time trying to determine what came with it I'll list all the accessories here (and included a couple pics): duster crevice tool, pet power brush, dusting brush, upholstery tool, dust away floor attachment, canister (note it did not come with an accessory bag; but all but one fit either on the vacuum (holds 2 attachments) or canister (holds 2 attachments). It was incredibly easy to assemble! Out of the box, assembled, pictures taken, and vacuuming in less than 10 minutes. Now for the pros:1) Awesome suction, as good if not better than my Dyson...in fact almost too good - it did pull up and eat some of my carpet threads along a seam; but that was it had already pulled up a bit there and I had it on high pile to deep clean when it my carpet is low-med.2) the lift away was heaven sent, I could get under furniture and on furniture...exactly what I needed to get all the hair in it's hidden corners.3) the pet power brush actually worked!!! My Dyson turbo pet tool never had the suction of the vacuum itself, in fact I use to just put the whole vacuum on my couch and chaise to get the hair off. The Shark power pet tool'sucied it all up, and it was so easy to switch attachments (vests with the Dyson Compact. I got hair off the couch I haven't been able to get to - ever!4) it actually gets to the edge. The Dyson had bumpers of some sort so it wouldn't necessarily get along the baseboards and corners. The Shark pulled up everything right up to the edge!!!5) easy to navigate, on par with the Dyson.6) the light was a nice added feature.7) the capacity of the dirt canister was awesome. Three times I started to empty it only to discover it had room!!! No more running to the basement to empty the bin in the trash can multiple times!!!8) the auto propel helped speed things along9) when I went to empty it all of the debris fell out with the click of a button and release of the bottom lid!!! No reaching in to pull out dog hair getting first and dust everywhere!!!Cons:1) it was heavier than my Dyson, but not in an unmanageable way - in fact where my Dyson often felt flimsy leaving me wondering how it cost so much, this felt solid and sturdy!2) the weight is more noticeable on the backstroke, but this just means you can't just vacuum with your arm you have to perfect the the Shark two step - two steps forward, two steps back...3) parts of it did occasionally fall over while vacuuming- but no worse than on my Dyson, and I think as I get the hang of it it won't happen at all.4) carpet and hair did wrap around the roller. In the year I had the Dyson this never happened. However most if that I think originated from the above mentioned carpet incident and accidentally catching an Apple charging cord (which I deranged but likely added to the twined hair. All of it was easily removed and I just plan to clear each use if it happens again, not ideal; but worth all the pros! All in all - it's exactly what I needed and meets the needs of my home far better than my disown for $100-200 less!

Great Vacuum but you don’t get what’s listed!
By D Moon on Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024
The function and performance are good but can’t help feeling like I am victim of a bait and switch.Clearly states Included ComponentsPet upholstery tool, pet power brush, hard floor genie w/ one microfiber pad, canister caddy, dusting brush, dusting genie, accessories bag.You get the Pet upholstery tool and crevice tool ONLY. I have to say we love the vacuum but it’s going back if they don’t make it right. The link on the Amazon help page is not a good link.
