Love the slick Candy Apple colour knife block. Weight of Diamond Grit sharpening steel gives a sturdy feeling for knife honing. Beautiful bolster keeps fingers safe from sharp blade. Chef and Bread knives' spines are nicely chamfered, kind to skin on my index finger. Utility and Paring knives' spine are sharp and unfinished, not nice to hold. Rivets and tangs not flush with composite shells on all handles. Run finger on handle surface and feel the scratch and catch on my skin. Obvious quality trouble here. Chef and Bread knives passed the paper cutting test, slice paper smooth like butter. Typical performance of blade from quality steel. They can make German grade steel in China now. Utility and Paring performed poorly, cutting paper ... feels like a beginner's bow on violin strings with difficulties. Could it be poor blade edge finishing or could these small knives be made from steel of lesser grade? Wish they would sell knife block separately. Too bad I expect better quality knives at this price. Reluctantly returned this set to vendor. If you're buying a set, be sure to check out these things.
