Best Luggage Locks I've Used
By B. J. Larkin on Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2015
These Cargis are the best luggage locks I've owned. They are solid; I doubt that fence cutters would nick them. The combination setting procedure is simple and similar to that of other luggage locks I've used. And opening and closing the lock is perfectly straight forward. Pull upward or press down. No pinching or sliding or turning needed. One of the really nice things is turning the tumblers provides a discernible tactile feedback so you know when a number is in position. Related is that the number are easy to read, even in dim light. The only limited thing I can think of is that the bale or loop or whatever the U-shaped part is called is pretty thick, which means these locks are pretty much limited to luggage with luggage lock hoops, i.e., they won't fit things like computer cases. A neat feature is a little red button that pops up and stays up when a TSA key opens it. Thus you can tell when you see your bags it they have been opened. A related safety feature is that the TSA key can't be removed until the lock has be locked. Thus no bags accidentally left unlocked. One more positive thing is that two of these cost just a bit more than so-so locks.TSA Luggage Locks (2 Pack). Best TSA Approved Heavy Duty Zinc Alloy, Personalized Combination Padlock. Cargis Suitcase Locks Have "Lock Open Alert" + "Lock Safe Protection" to Ensure Your Travel Baggage is Never Left Unlocked. Lifetime Warranty.

the combination set up was easy but when we arrived at our first destination one ...

We tried out our locks on a recent vaction, the combination set up was easy but when we arrived at our first destination one lock was missing. Once we opened the suitcase we found a letter from the TSA stating our bag had been inspected and taped to the letter was our cut lock. A key was not used to open the lock it was cut off. So on our trip back we just use zip ties as usual so we wouldn't chance losing another new lock. It was unfortunate as we were looking forward to the security offered by these TSA luggage locks.
