Zest Tea Energy Hot Tea

I drink tea after giving up coffee 10 years ago. I like the caffeine boost coffee would give so this product caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. My first cup was weak and uneventful. I brewed one bag for 5 minutes based on the other reviews. The tast was good but I didn't notice any pick-me-up. The next time I decided to drop 2 tea bags into the wager and brew for 15 minutes. BIG MISTAKE! Thank goodness I spilled most of it on the counter, because what I did manage to drink, about 1/3 of the original amount, just about killed me. At first there was nothing unusual. About an hour later I began to feel the jolt of caffeine but then I noticed my heart racing. I have one of those pulse ox things that goes on your finger and it was up to about 100 beats per minute. My resting heart rate is 64. I felt horrible and like I was going to jump out of my skin. I looked more closely at the ingredients and I noticed that besides just tea, there was "green tea extract". That is concentrated synthetic energy compound they put in those deadly energy drinks. I was pretty upset. I was determined that if I lived through this episode I would warn people that it's very hard to know with each cup if it will be your last because you've accidentally steeped too long or one bag was more saturated with this synthetic drug-like substance. I decided to throw the rest out and warn people. It's not just high caffeine tea. It's a form of energy drink consumed in a tea. Definitely not my cup of tea. So be warned and use your own best judgement in preparing this concoction.
