Big, light and safe

We really like Samsonite and have only used their luggage for years. So when we needed more suitcases for our upcoming trip, we chose the Samsonite Omni PC set without thinking twice. The 28-inch spinner is big but still light, which makes it easy to move around. Some people said it might be too big for international flights, but we flew with Japan Airlines and EVA Air and had no issues. The carry-on is also great and has a TSA lock, which makes us feel safer when we travel. One thing to be aware of — the suitcases are not waterproof. On a rainy day, some of our things inside got a little wet. But other than that, everything worked really well. The wheels roll smoothly, the shell feels strong, and the set looks nice. We’re happy with our choice!

Great for Light travel

We have bought five (5) of these over the 3 years, one for each of us. If you very rarely travel this suitcase will probably last you a long time. I gage this suitcase time on travel and not time of ownership. We have found that this suitcase will last 2-2 ½ hard trips. 6-8 weeks on average, 8-10 cities, carried on trains and pulled over some cobble stones. On top of the easy 3-5 days trips by plane or car (3-4 of these trips). So, every ~18 months we have to replace it. The only complaint I have are the wheels and the same wheel every time will fail (see pics from our most recent cases). They also don’t roll the best on carpet; you really drag them. This time I just salvaged the good wheel on one bag and swapped it out. They are right and left, so you can only do this one. The alternative are bags I don’t really know and then some of them are 3-4X the cost of this one. I also think the more expensive your suitcase the more likely it might go “missing”. Don’t know in the long run if they are any better. Better to stay with the Devil you know.
