Simmons Curv™ 3" Gel Topper- Queen

I adore this product. I am a side sleeper and as I approach 60, I found I had developed horrible pains in my shoulders from the mattress of my old bed. I considered a new mattress but decided to try a topper before we spent all that money. I had been leery of memory foam because of the heat retention properties, but then I found out about the cool gel toppers and decided to take the plunge. The first time I laid down on this I thought I was in heaven. My shoulders started to improve right away, but it has taken a couple of months for the pain to completely go away. It does take some getting used to and as one reviewer said, it does make my husband roll into me a little more than the plain mattress. He does not "love" the feel of the topper, but I think he is sleeping with less rolling from side to side also. I waited to review until the weather got a little warmer to check the performance of the cooling, but I sleep hot enough already that I can tell this does what it says it will. I have not noticed this to be any hotter than the regular mattress and it is probably a little cooler. I think the heat diffusing properties would be even better if I didn't have a mattress topper on, but I've heard about the issues with memory foam getting wet so don't want to chance it. If I were younger, I might have preferred the two-inch foam, but I think the three-inch is perfect now. I think four inches would be too deep, but that's just my guess. It was also rather "cool" to see the squished, hard foam re-inflate from it's packaging. I thought it was damaged when we first unpackaged it, but within an hour it was soft and pliant again and we slept on it the first night after we got it.
