Mikasa Clover 18/10 20-Piece Flatware Set

EDIT: A year later, and there are some small rust spots I can't remove even rubbing with toothpaste. One of the large soup spoons is not relegated to just digging in potting soil in small pots because it's got too much rust on it. And yet the Towle I have had for years, which is unfortunately discontinued in the pattern I have, NEVER has had this issue. MAYBE if you hand wash it immediately (I take out of the dishwasher when it stops and HAND DRY and still...) and CAREFULLY hand dry it, it would be better than in the dishwasher, but isn't the point of stainless is that it's, well, stainless and easy care? ________________________________ EVEN taking out of the dishwasher fast, noticed some rust spots. I got them off with toothpaste and rinsed off, but never had this issue with high end flatware before. I have some OLD Towle stainless flatware that never does that. LOVELY pattern, but what the heck? MIKASA ISSUE, not AMAZON! I got replacement set and while this flatware is BEAUTIFUL....there were a lot of flaws when you looked at or touched some of the utensils. Example, the back of the forks at the bottom of the tines, many felt too rough. The knives had different serrated edges. The backs of the spoons not as shiny as the front AND tarnishes easily. STILL THINK the pattern, the heft, beautiful, but had to send them back. AGAIN, YAY AMAZON for standing behind what they sell, however the quality of this flatware is NOT the Mikasa I have known for DECADES, but then other brands seemed to have SLIPPED a lot as well. I have been reading a ton of reviews and no matter the brand or cost, I am seeing many complain of rust or finishing issues. _____________________________________ EDITED UP TO FIVE STARS! YET AGAIN, AMAZON ROCKS! First set I got, LOVED, but some minor scratches and flaws on several pieces, but hey, that can happen. It's what a company DOES about it. Amazon replaced for me. IF YOU ARE THINKING about getting new flatware and like a heavy, high quality set that is contemporary and classic, I hope you check out the CLOVER! IT IS LESS THAN HALF here on Amazon than anywhere else I checked it out (and I checked SEVERAL SITES!) JUST MAKE SURE to check each piece, as with ANYTHING, you want to make sure it's not flawed. ____________________________________________________________ JUST got and quickly checked each piece. FIRST, GREAT QUALITY FEEL AND HEFT! What I would expect from Mikasa. SECOND, well-wrapped and thank goodness because big rainstorm here and the outside box from Amazon was soaked, but the inside box was wrapped in plastic with the Mikasa box perfectly dry! OK for the flaws.....many of the utensils have brush marks, some light scratches, very light pitting. Like if you took an abrasive pad and went over a really shiny item. Still shiny, but you can see brush marks. I know if the finish is compromised like this, that means it is more susceptible to rust...so unfortunately have to return. BUT YAY FOR AMAZON! I shall return this set and they are sending a new one. I am really hoping this was just a one off, one of those fluke things because.....I LOVE THE SET....except for the flaws mentioned. WILL UPGRADE TO FIVE STARS if replacement is perfect!
