Easy Setup With Echo Plus' Integrated Hub, Easy Reset If Previously Paired, Good Light Quality
By Stephanie Sullivan on Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2018
I was an early adopter of the Philips LUX bulbs and hub. I had this bulb first setup with the Philips Hue bridge along with my other bulbs. It worked fine for Philips products but would not Alexa integrate other bulbs like the excellent Cree smart bulb. This has the round shape of more modern Philips LUX bulbs which is very difference from the trumpet shaped older models. It's closer to the size of an old incandescent bulb and its more lamps and fixtures. When I got my Echo Plus with an integrated Zigbee hub I was anxious to move all the plugs tied to my Hue bridge to the Echo Plus. This requires a reset of the bulb. The Cree was easy with a series of on-off cycles. All the Philips bulbs required getting the serial numbers off the bulbs and using the Alexa app to reset them. (look in the smart home section) When my smart bulbs were reset, including this one, pairing to my Echo Plus hub was as simple as saying "Alexa, Find devices". Easy-peasy. I still have great control over my Philips bulbs and now finally voice control over my Cree bulbs too. Outside of voice control this Philips bulb is nice 2700K (warm white) smoothly dimmable bulb. Light quality is nice and I find it slightly brighter than earlier LUX models I own. In conclusion, since I got rid of the Hue bridge I have one less thing taking up a power socket and network connection. All my bulbs work through the Echo plus hub and all are now under voice control. Philips still makes some of the best smart bulbs and this version of the Hue Lux bulbs has very smooth dimming and is a bit brighter than older models. Living with this bulb for several months I think it is excellent and earns 5 stars.

Light 'em up!
By Starcrescendo on Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2017
These are OK. The idea is great, smart bulbs, and I can use it with Alexa and ask her to turn on the X light. Another nice benefit is I can change the level of the light so I can have it be full bore or I can have it dimmed down, no dimmer switch or anything necessary. All controllable by Alexa, "Alexa, turn the kitchen light on to 50%." My only qualm is that you have to pay so much for what is at the end of the day, a lightbulb. It's going to die, granted they have longer life than others, but still, inevitably, it's going to die. And you will have paid $50 for a lightbulb. I really wish this light had the ability to change colors as well, but that is an additional upcharge. In my opinion, if they don't give you every color of the rainbow, each "white" bulb should at least be able to adjust between warm and bright white light. When you turn the white level up to above 50% it does get very bright and it is very responsive although not instantaneous. There is always a slight pause when issuing the commands, and a moment of silence where you wonder if its not going to work and then it does. One final note, I have no idea what happens in the event of a power outage. Will these be at risk of surges? If the Wifi goes out, will you be left lightless? These questions I don't know and I just have to hope they don't happen. Overall this is a great product, just know what you are getting at the end of the day.
