First cooler pad I've ever owned, this one has exceeded expectations.

I received my Tree Bee Cooling Pad within a couple days. It was packaged well and came out intact and in working order. As I write this review it is the first time I'm using it as a cooling pad, with the kickstand up and the fans at full glory. I have a fairly heavy Alienware 17R3 on it right now and the pad is very stable. I have no problems trusting the kickstands (both bottom and top) to support the laptop. So far so good. The cord storage under the pad is clever and functional. My hands have a hard time putting the cord in perfectly, but my wife was able to do it pretty easily with her little hands. I don't mind throwing the cord into the bag with everything else because it is short, but just long enough to give me some flexibility. I've been using the pad for days now, but I've actually been placing it in front of the laptop and using it to keep me cool! I can rest my hands on it between games or as I'm browsing. The sound doesn't bother me because I usually have gaming noise or music on anyway, but I have to admit the pad was almost silent when I had put my laptop on it for the first time. It will hum right along if you want it to, but when used properly - you can leave the fans at 100% and forget it is even there. Now that I've been typing for a few minutes here, I can't believe what I've been missing... the height and angle of the cooling pad with the kickstands out is PERFECT. This is so much more comfortable than having the laptop flat on the desk. Having the extra USB plug in the pad means I don't lose one of my connections. Between a mouse dongle, my phone, and a headphone dongle... this cooler pad - it was necessary. Not something I thought about before I purchased, but definitely something I appreciate after the fact. If there was an improvement it would be to make it a 4 port instead of just "replacing" the port it uses it could actually add some functionality. I'd gladly pay $10 more for a pad with 4 USB3.0 ports on it. I didn't look for one before buying this one, I wouldn't replace this one for another for just that reason, but it is certainly something to consider in the future. I do a lot of gaming when I find time, and anyone with a gaming laptop knows how hot they run. This laptop is no exception. My laptop can literally burn your legs in short notice. Even with a blanket between the laptop and my legs it can get uncomfortable rather quickly. This cooler pad doesn't necessarily make my rig run cooler but it keep my legs and whatever surface I'm on MUCH cooler. It is light weight and thin... it travels with the laptop in my Alienware bag with absolutely no problems. Durability doesn't seem to be a problem, and it certainly isn't a concern. This is a good product but man is it cheap. I'd feel bad if I broke it, but let's be honest - replacing it wouldn't break the bank. This is my first cooler pad. Having researched them I didn't expect significantly cooler temps on the laptop, and honestly I haven't checked to see if there were any, but the lighting matches my rig perfectly, the fans cool whatever they are pointed at be it my legs or my hands, and the kickstands hold the keyboard as the perfect angle. So comfortable. Really couldn't be happier.

So much potential

Seems like these days, if you don't give 5 stars, it must mean it's crap. Please understand that's not the case with this review. Things I love: The price is competitive and I love how it actually fits my 17" laptop (Asus GL702VM) where many of them others feel too small. I like how high it lifts the rear of the laptop for an angled typing experience and how you can turn off some fans as necessary. Using a wall-plug watts draw meter to my laptop while hooked up to this cooler, with all fans running at full speed, it draws just shy of 5 extra watts over my laptops regular idle draw - Worth it for the additional cooling it provides to my inherently hot running gaming laptop. It lowers my load temps by almost 5c. Braided cord is a nice touch and having the USB pass-through integrated in to the rear is better than ones that included as part of the cable head, have them sticking out the side of your USB port. Things I don't like: The cooler has no venting on the side so if you have it flat on your lap, you're choking the fans of air and effectively killing the cooler's ability to cool your laptop. You can't raise the rear either because they're of a individual peg design which causes them to dig in to your thighs vs a smooth bar extending across the entire thing (as others have designed). Because of that, it also makes it unstable for any surface but a flat hard surface like a table. Also the pegs on the front of the cooler that pop up to keep your laptop from sliding down, ugh... terrible. It's sharp plastic and digs in to your forearm. Check out the picture I've added of the marks it leaves on my forearm in just the tiny amount of time it took me to write this review. At least add some creature comforting and make them rounded solid pegs, perhaps rubber capped or something. Come on! The only thing I can think of is to dremel them down flush to my laptop size so they stop digging in but I don't want to give an excuse to void my warranty. In conclusion this cooler has a lot of things going for it but just needs some refinement and it would sweep the floor. It still provides one of the better values among the laptop coolers and is a solid 4 stars. Would be 5 stars if it could address the issues I brought up. However I have to knock one more star off because they are too aggressive in spamming you to review their product. When I purchase items of Amazon, I usually do get an email asking for a review, maybe 2nd one, I'll tolerate, but 6 emails guys (and who knows, maybe more if I had waited longer)? See attached picture of said emails. One email is sufficient as to not nag your customers. Overall I recommend this cooler if you can live with the issues I mentioned.
