My bestie!
By Familia Chaotica on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2024
This is the best investment I've ever made for my kitchen/ homestead. I run it 10 hours a day almost every day, drying smokables, herbs, flowers, beans, etc. (I'm too food-paranoid to try dehydrating meats, so no jerky experience to review...) It's spacious, quiet, and effective. We just had a brutally humid summer (the clothes hanging on the line didn't even dry out in a whole day) and this lil trooper kept fighting. BUT THE ALARM OMGs. We call it 'Satan's Alarm Clock' because it is long and loud and the only way to shut it up is to pull the plug. Like, the whole neighborhood doesn't need to know my mullein leaves are done, geez. Still absolutely worth it though.

Disappointing, but best you can do for $100
By FF on Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2016
First, the good: -Lots of space. Six very spacious racks to dehydrate on. -Seems to work pretty effectively ....however -Reasonably priced. For $100 you probably can't do better. That still doesn't mean you should take the plunge here unless you don't plan on dehydrating often, however... The bad: -There is a timer that can only be set for 19 hours and 30 minutes, maximum. As you may know, many recipes require that you dehydrate for more than 24 hours to get the correct result. After the timer stops, the dehydrator turns off and must be turned back on manually. This wouldn't be so bad if you were around the house 24/7 and had to time to always reset the timer and make sure the dehydrating is complete. Unfortunately this is almost never the case and 75% of the items I dehydrate require a longer amount of time than I had anticipated in this dehydrator. -The temperature setting range from 95-158 degrees fahrenheit but you must choose a preset temperature: 95, 104, 115, 122, 138, 145, 158 -- really quite annoying. Some of my recipes call for temperature different from those, making using this a headache to use properly in combination with the timer shutting off the entire machine when it runs out. -It is very big. It takes up a lot of counterspace and unless you use it pretty regularly (a few times a week at least) this will take up a lot of workspace that you don't even use most of the time. On that same token, it's a very reasonably priced dehydrator with no bells or whistles, and despite its cheap construction and nearly nonexistent control of the finer details, it can be great for someone who really doesn't need a dehydrator at all. I wouldn't buy this dehydrator again, unless I was going to use it for one or two recipes that take less than 19 hours and 30 minutes every time (kale chips I guess?)
