For High Altitude Cooking, this is the One
By Phone Guy on Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2016
Living at a High Altitude, it is difficult to get split peas and beans to cook. I realized I needed a pressure cooker to make those meals turn out. I didn't want to spend a fortune on one, so I read the reviews. I found Tracy A's video review the most helpful, as she showed how to cook beans in 15 minutes using the Porridge Setting. This unit does not have a saute option, but that's ok with me, I just use my cast iron chicken fryer to saute prior to loading the cooker. It does not come with recipes, so you will have to figure out what works best. There are some guidelines enclosed. I was able to make a beautiful split pea soup using the soup setting, 8 cups of broth, and cooked them for 30 minutes. My second attempt was cooking red kidney beans. Even though the interior is non-stick, I used some cooking spray and found that worked better as a tiny bit of my split pea soup stuck. I was able to cook the beans after a pre-soak overnight, a ten minute boil (as kidney beans can contain toxins), and used the porridge setting for 15 minutes. The end result was also perfect. I can't wait to buy cheaper cuts of meat and make stews. The interior is removable and washes easily. The non-stick spoons included are a bonus. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Here is what you are about to buy and get ...
By L. W. Peters on Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2016
Here is what you are about to buy and get: Cooker, non-matching instruction book, power cord, rice spoon. That is it. The settings in the book are not the setting actually on the cooker. No instructions on what each setting is. For example, press Menu repeatedly until toggles to Slow Cook. P300 appears. No mention of any of this in the booklet. I figure out P300 is 300 minutes. Press TEMP(erature) and says 70C then 80C then 90C. I figure out this must be Celsius. No instructions on how to toggle to Fahrenheit. Is this the temperature it cooks at for 300 minutes or the temperature shuts off when reaches? I set P300 to P660 since will be at work for the next 10 hours and when return the items in the cooking basket are not cooked thoroughly. Carrots are hard, potatoes are hard. Short ribs are done but dry and not tender. Looked online for instruction manual that might help me figure out what was the issue with the settings or the cooker. Watched ALL the videos posted here by users (wow, most were given the cooker then posted a video). Rubbish so am moving on to a different slow cooker. If could give this negative stars, I would. I give up.
