Great quality

I completely forgot I had ordered this for my son for Christmas. When I opened the box, I was super excited. It's pretty large and great quality. It is a great learning tool for children. We are doing a garden bed for Second Harvest this year and now he can help start some seeds for charity!

Fun truck, but not functional for planting
By Larson on Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2016
My toddler LOVES trucks. It is absolutely one of his favorite things to play with. As a truck, he loves this toy. It's good for pretending to plant things. And it's got lots of little gadgets that little hands shouldn't have a problem using for PRETEND play, but don't expect this to be an educational tool. AS A PLANTER I love to garden, and I love to teach children about plants and gardening. If you are getting this toy because you thought you could teach your kid about growing plants, think again. The planters are too small to support any seedling, they would barely fit a larger seed like corn or bean. Most seeds wouldn't be able to get the first taproot out before it was choked out by the seedling tray. The planters are hard plastic, so if you do get a seed to sprout, you won't get it out without grabbing the fragile seedling by the freshly sprouted leaves. The plastic greenhouse top is about the thickness of a soda bottle and brittle; it will likely break if a small child uses it. The gardening gear is nothing like you would use in an actual garden, it's all plastic and unlikely to last more then a couple rakes through garden soil. Again, it's good for pretending to help an adult in the garden, not to ACTUALLY help in the garden. As a work around, I took away the green house top and I am reserving it for spring. In the spring we will plant a few seeds in an empty egg carton (bigger, and biodegradable) and let him do his first plantings with this toy. AS A TRUCK The truck itself is plastic, and not a very strong and sturdy plastic my toddler was able to wrench on the flat bed top and crack it. I am fairly certain any kid who actually takes this outside will break it. Also the Matchbox logos are stickers and not painted on. So they made a toy that is meant to get wet (there is a water squirter attached to the truck) and decided to put paper stickers on it, seriously? As a positive, the wheels roll well, and don't stick, and it's a nice big truck which would probably be fun in a sandbox. It's got places to clip on all the tools, and the flat bed opens up to store the seedling tray and shovels so the toy is self contained.
