Makes life so much easier
By C. G. King on Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2017
I already have one of these vacuums and love it so much I was delighted to add another for the bedroom area of my house. I'm old and anything that can make life easier scores high, plus I've dealt with Dyson customer service and am confident in their quality. I bought the original Dyson cordless stick vac several years ago and found it so handy for quick tidy ups I was drawn to purchase this model from a QVC offer that included the soft motorhead brush which is especially good in the kitchen. I noticed that this model has a bigger head and more power than the original but seems more manageable and is no heavier. Also the filter is much easier to change. It works so well on carpeting with the regular motorhead spinning brush seen here that I found I didn't need to take my big heavy corded vacuum out nearly as much. In fact after a knee injury last year, I couldn't use the big one at all for a while. When I saw this refurbished one on sale, I decided to retire my original one that wasn't as effective anymore with the long shaft, but still works fine as a handheld with the crevice tool. I have plenty of uses for that, cleaning out the car, closets and such, and will now have this new one close at hand for larger jobs. One tip that has worked for me is that when I vacuum carpets, fine dust/lint tends to gather around the screen inside the dust cup and doesn't fall out immediately when the cup is emptied so I keep a wooden chopstick next to the unit and use that to encourage that extra to fall out. It works great and makes emptying the cup easier. Since I've used other Dyson handhelds in the past I know all the quirks and felt confident trying this 'reconditioned' version. I suspect it was probably a return from a purchaser who didn't take to it given that these are expensive items and some people's expectations may be overly high. No, it doesn't vacuum all by itself, but is as close to ideal as anything I've tried, plus is a real work horse with an impressively long lifespan. I assume the 'reconditioning' was really cleaning and repackaging. I have no reason to think differently as the unit works just like it was new. When on Max power, you get the feeling the unit would raise dirt from under the house. It's impressive. When you switch from regular power to Max the unit stops itself and restarts with the different power level while you're holding the trigger. Regular is fine for nearly everything and lasts long enough for me to do quite a bit before needing to recharge. Most of my jobs are short ones so I don't always return it to the charging station in between uses. I'm more likely to prop it behind the door in my office where it's easy to grab. It will last out of the charger for ages when not in use, as do the regular handhelds. The charging doesn't take very long even when the battery is fully depleted and when it's fully charged again the blue light goes out and the charger becomes inactive so the battery is protected.I like to keep an extra filter on hand so I don't have to depend on it being a sunny day to speed drying after rinsing it out. I put the clean filter in and then rinse out the 'dirty' one and leave it to dry for use the next time I switch them. All in all, I'm very pleased with Dyson vacs in general, but especially pleased with this one. It does such a great job, I rarely feel the need to push the big one around anymore. This one is handier and more versatile, plus gets places the big one doesn't. It comes with a crevice tool and little brush tool, but all the other Dyson tools from my other units fit so I don't need to add extras. If you don't have a collection like I do, I recommend the soft motorhead tool for bare floors. It works on carpeting too but isn't as aggressive as the one that comes on this unit, which, of course works on bare floors as well, but that soft one picks up chunky stuff really easily and manages beautifully when partly on/partly off the edge of an oriental for example. It does the edges around your kitchen floor mat and odd things like that. All in all, I highly recommend this unit.

the darn thing does not work
By Harold L. Twait on Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2020
I bough this Vacuum because My grand daughter has one and loves it. My wife has back problems and this Dyson sounded like she should have one also. We received the vacuum just before Christmas and with the holidays and all we didn't try to use it till after new years. We put the vacuum on charge as per instructions. When the charge time was over we tried to use the vacuum and it would not start up. We plugged it in again and it still didn't work. I called Dyson and explained my problem. They said it sounds like the charger is no good. They said they would send me out a new one, I waited about a month and the new charger and we never received it. I called again and this time they did send me a new charger. I plugged this one in and it seemed to be working because there were little blue lights that now were on.. I charged the battery three and one half as the directions listed. When the time had expired I turned the vacuum and the Dyson did start and ran for about ten seconds and stopped never to start up again. I called Dyson a third time and they wanted to sell me a new battery pack. I said no !! This vacuum has never worked to this day and Dyson said to explain all of this to Amazon and they can replace it, As you can the 90 day warranty has expired with all this messing around with Dyson. The darn thing never worked. What can I do now?Sincerely Harold L. Twait

I purchased the Dyson V6 Motorhead Cord Free Vacuum (Certified Refurbished) about 18 months ago. I love that I don't have to lug a heavy machine out of the closet whenever I need to vacuum. I can keep this handy for quick pick-ups and it is more powerful than any vacuum I've owned. The battery life is shorter than I would like but it will do my dining/living room (24' x18') in one go. I do my bedroom on another day. I love how easily the pieces come apart for cleaning. The only problem I've had is removing the filter to wash it. Would welcome any tips from other users!

This is a very convenient vaccume ! I have 4 small children and a cat so it cleans up their messes quickly the charging station is great! It works so easily that my 5 and 4 year old can even use it to clean their room. My only complaints about this vaccume is that it will not suck up anything “big” like a small Chunk of pretzel or a large bread crumb, it instead crushes it and spits it out so you have to then clean up the little bits it has created, and the battery life is so short. 20 min on regular mode and about 10 on max mode. You may think “oh I’ll never vaccume for more than 10 min” but in all reality you may vaccume and then set it aside because you have to leave and come back and do more and now it’s dead because you forgot to plug it in. but it is great! that was my onlycomplaint. i love to use it for the stairs and to clean out my truck!
The vacuum SUCKS in a GOOD way!

This is my second Dyson vacuum. I have the first generation stick , it was working fine but we dropped it and a part broke that they don't have a replacement for. We got this one refurbished because, well, why not, there is nothing wrong with it, it has been inspected, repaired, and inspected again. It came with all its parts and in perfect condition. I thought it would be similar to our other one but it wasn't. After a couple generations they figured stuff out and I LOVE this vacuum. It has greater suction, the head is wider so it picks up more and doesn't get clogged. Max is max. We have mostly wood floors but we do have area rugs and carpet in our family room. It does the job, its light, powerful, very happy.
6 years old and dead.

I like the stick design and it has good suction, unfortunately the motor is seized up. I've had the unit 6 years but I think it should last longer. For longevity it gets two stars

This unit is by far my best vacuum type purchase I have ever made. I have cycled through the less expensive alternatives (5 over a 10 year period). The Dyson Cordless V6 is an awesome unit. I was concerned about the canister unit being built into the handle unit making it heavy and awkward. Quite the contrary. It’s well balanced, fits my small hand and offers good control. The battery life is good. Emptying the dust canister is so simple. Just unlock the base of the canister and wah la the dirt falls out. The wall hanging charging unit requires that you secure the wire and corresponding plug in the wall unit frame, then secure to the wall. My charging unit is mounted on wood paneling making it secure. I suggest if mounting in drywall toss the bullet style wall anchors and use self drilling threaded anchors. You will not regret spending the money to buy this unit.
Make sure you know if it is refurbished prior to buying!

Very, very short battery life. I unknowingly purchased this product as refurbished. My Fault. Had I known that it was, I never would have. Right away I noticed a piece of plastic tape-like stuff wrapped around the lower connection that connects to the base, I pulled it off, not knowing why it was there, quickly found out why, it was holding the release button in lock position because once that plastic was off, it dropped off from the base, so that is why that piece of tape/plastic was wrapped around! Had to reattach just right so that that button is in the lock position while vacuuming and always, really. I think that should have been one of the things that should have been “refurbished” for sure! The battery is bad because I only get maybe 15 min. At a time out of it, and that is from a full charged state!! The only good thing about this model is that it has good suction and can go around and under tight areas. That is it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I received it on Saturday, so 4 days ago. I've used it so much since then. I didn't realize how much junk was hiding in my carpets! the first time I used it, I had to empty the canister far more than I would like to admit. I think I vacuumed 3 times alone sunday. my home has never felt so clean. My ONLY complaints are 1) the battery life. its short. only about a half hour of vacuuming. which is fine for a quick clean - it lets me get done what I need to. but when I first started using it, I had to stop and let it charge a couple times. Luckily, it charges fast. and 2) the canister fills up quickly, and needs emptying frequently. but it's easy to empty, so that's a bonus.I went back and forth on buying this, for a long time. finally took the plunge when our old vacuum died. and I am glad I did.
Arrived ok but one small issue.

So far I love this little vacuum cleaner! The power and amount of dirt that it has sucked out of my carpet was both shocking and amazing! I bought it primarily to clean my stairs, but find myself regularly choosing it over my original large Dyson vacuum. The only complaint I’ve got is that when it arrived, the included wall mount/dock was the wrong one for this vacuum. This is the reason for only four stars. However, Dyson was quick to send a replacement that was correct and fits like a glove. This is my second Dyson refurbished vacuum, and my first had been going strong for over 12 years! Great products!
