Good hard cooking surface
By Josh Pierce on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2024
I have skillets and Dutch ovens dating from 1860s to 1960s that I use daily. Many needed a full start over and I decided to use electrolysis to strip over 30 pieces back to bare iron. This oil works very well but make sure the iron is completely clean, go slow, and go through all the motions. Each piece took 4 to 8 coats and it's a very long process but worth it in the end. Very good cooking surface even on the newer grainy low quality skillets and made even my oldest stuff look new again and probably shinier than original. This bottle goes a long way of used correctly and will definitely get more as needed. A few pieces did start flaking but I'm chalking it up to user error or not completely clean and dry.

Regular Flaxseed Oil might be cheaper
By gbdusmc on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2019
This is merely Flaxseed oil - which is what is recommended for seasoning cast iron, however, if you buy just flaxseed oil without the "cast iron conditioner" label - I would assume it could be purchased for cheaper. It is flaxseed oil so it works well for its job so no complaints - I will just try to find a cheaper alternative when I need to buy again.
