Buyer Beware - Update

I looked at coffee pots online for over a year. Got this and loved it. HOWEVER, less than a year and it totally stopped working. As directed by Bella I sent them a photo of the bottom metal label, a copy of the receipt that shows the price and the shipping date, etc. (I am pretty sure I registered it online too). Though this item is still listed on Bella's website and for sale at Amazon, and Target they would not replace it!!! I guess because I got it on sale maybe (?) that they will not send me a new one. Then they made me go back and take more photos of the product after I cut the cord. I sure hope they at least send me a refund check for what I paid for this product. Had planned to buy other Bella products, will not do that now if they do not stand behind them. There just not seem to be any way possible for this coffee maker to leak and once it's done brewing, it's done! No more dripps or messes after about a dozen bews. I am so blessed! Golly the coffee tastes great too! I am using some tea bags I ordered and making pods out of them. I just fold them over with the openng face down and not a ground gets anywhere ever! Pop one it, brew a cop, toss the tea bag.... repeat for your second cup. This is a GREAT coffee maker. I have been wanting to try a Bella, they all seem so well thought out, and I was right! I got the red one because it is cheaper but it's not that dull color red, boy it looks nice. If you are tired of leaky pots, pots that are hard to pour into, canisters that leak all over when you are pouring your coffee, or continue dripping after you have removed the canister... Well, this Bella is perfect! Coffee is hot and with a double walled stainless steel up with a handle, I am tickled pink! Thanks, Bella!

Not worth the price. Glad I purchased when it was only $14.

I guess I never submitted the initial review I had back in August or September as that review would have been much more flattering than the one I am leaving today. Today, I am hard pressed to give this product any favorable review. I purchased this coffee maker in August 2021 at around $14. However November of 2021 the unit was running anywhere between 1/4 to 1/2 of the water when brewing and leaving the remainder in the supply. After attempts to clean and descale the coffee maker, it still was only doing about half of the brew. Also while this does allow for travel mugs of coffee to be used to brew as a consumer you need to ensure that your bug will be able to fit. If your mug will not fit, you may need to try to find one that will fit in the space. Another con of this machine is the length of time that it takes to brew one cup. It would take around 5 to 6 minutes to brew a travel mug of coffee. In the same amount of time my traditional Hamilton Beach drip coffee maker would make up to 6 cups, and a Hamilton Beach Scoop coffee maker would take around half of the time to brew the same amount. Unlike the Hamilton Beach scoop single serve coffee maker it would shut itself off after a brew cycle was completed, but this unit doesn't have that function. The inability for the machine to cut itself off after a brew is done could lead to the possibility of an electrical issue or fire related to the unit remaining on. Once in September of 2021 for a test, I left the unit on after a brew was completed to see if after some time that it would shut power down itself. However after about 90 minutes I decided to physically turn the power button off as it appeared that the device would either stay on indefinably, and not wanting to risk an electrical fire I turned the device off. The use of the single filter that also host the coffee grounds is also not a good product feature as some coffee grounds would make their way into the cup of coffee. This device really needed another filter to catch some of the smaller grounds that made their way through the one filter or that might have been pushed out of the filter/holder to fall below to go into the mug. In honestly, there was one good pro for this device. It was really small and took up hardly any counter space. However that one pro against the other cons lead me to think of the $14 I spent on it as wasted money. However at the time I didn't feel that bad about it, but when I looked on May 15, 2022 that this device had increased in price by nearly $30 to be a price of $43.37 made me compelled to leave this review in hopes that no one spends more than $20 tops on this device. Even at $20 I would still urge shoppers to look for something with much better reviews than this device.

Perfect for single cup brewing at a great price.

I moved from a house with a roommate to an apartment on my own. We used to drink lots of coffee so I bought a big 14 cup coffee maker to bring with me. Turns out that was wayyy overkill. I was throwing away lots of coffee. It would take a long time to brew when really all I wanted was one or two cups. I was going to get a Keurig but they are really expensive and I didn't want to deal with K-cups. I saw this and went for it - and I love it! What you have to understand is this is the basic of the basic single cup coffee brewers your'e going to get. For the price and to make coffee for just me one cup at a time, it's basically perfect. You fill the cup that you're going to drink the coffee out of with water, dump that water in the reservoir on the top. Theres a little basket in the front that you put your ground coffee in. I usually put in a scoop and half to two scoops. You put the cup underneath the drip (this is very important!) and then flip the switch on the side. That's it. I was surprised by how small it was but I love the color because my kitchen is red and black. The picture makes it look like it's made of metal but it's actually plastic. The coffee pot dos not automatically turn off either. You have to flip the switch on and then remember to flip the switch off. The machine isn't tall enough for a travel mug to fit underneath either. The tallest coffee mug I have that can in there is 6 inches tall. I brew the coffee in that cup and then dump it in my travel mug. If you're looking for something cute and simple because you just want a little bit of coffee at a time - this is it!
Nice for the price! Good for infrequent, single cup a day coffee drinkers.

I've been using this for about two weeks now, and so far it's a decent single cup, drip style coffee maker. Considering its $15.00, it's definitely worth the price. Firstly, if you're a frequent, multiple cups a day coffee drinker, this is not for you. This machine is very basic, and I could see where heavy use would cause it to break quickly. The picture makes it look like it's metal, but it's really cheap plastic. I say it's cheap plastic, but will add that it's not such a bad thing because the coffee maker does work well. If you're an infrequent, single cup a day coffee drinker, this probably is the right machine for you. It takes up very little space on the countertop. It could even be stored in a cabinet, and it makes a pretty good cup of coffee--up to 14 oz. It does take about 3-5 minutes to brew a cup, but that should be expected for drip style. Also, the coffee doesn't brew very hot. After adding in creamer, the coffee cools down fairly quickly. So, this product is more aimed at those who plan on drinking the coffee soon after brewing. Pros: an excellent price, nice drip style, can use any coffee grounds you choose, small and doesn't take up a lot of space, eco-friendly as you're not using disposable K-Cups, easy to clean the filter and filter basket, comes with a nice coffee cup. Cons: cheap plastic, the coffee grounds stick to the black water dispenser causing them to fall into the water reservoir, it's not easy to clean the reservoir, can't brew into a travel mug, coffee isn't very hot. Overall, I would recommend this product to infrequent, single cup a day coffee drinkers. It's a good machine for the $15 price. I had previously owned a top of the line Keurig that I paid $179 for. It only lasted 2 years, and the company didn't stand behind their product. Because of that experience, I do think this is a pretty good product for the price.

This is a great for making a cup of coffee as long as it works. This is the 4th one I have purchased. 1st was a gift it lasted 3-4 years. On/off switch would not allow power to unit. 2nd I messed up by not allowing the heating element to cool prior to adding water. 3rd lasted 1.5 years. Once again the switch went bad. I know that for a fact because I kept flipping the switch on and off and once in a while I saw the switch light flash. Lucked out and was able to catch the light on. I used the power cord to control power to the unit until my 4th came in. If I do not get some reasonable time for usage this is my last purchase. You should know that these units come with a 2 year warranty. In order to replace under warranty I was required to ship the unit back, pay for postage and insurance. Not much of a warranty when the shipping and insurance cost similar to a new one.
Bella 1 Scoop 1 Cup... Love it!

Coffee tastes great! I read some reviews of this unit tasting like plastic and being slow to brew... Not mine! I skipped the vinegar wash and just ran one coffee cup of plain water through it and then made my first cup. Delicious! And it was just as hot as my regular pot at home. As for speed, I poured in 10 oz of water and set a stopwatch. From the time I turned on the power switch until the cup was full: a whopping 3:00! One reviewer complained about the lid being too tight. They have to be somewhat tight or the steam will push the top open. It is snug but in no way difficult to open. I gently hold the base down to the countertop with one hand and pop it right open with the other. The basket lifts right out for easy cleaning. It also has a longer cord (30 inch) which is very nice. I bought this smaller brewer to travel with so I'll be packing it in my suitcase inside a large ziplock bag. It's not TINY but a machine any smaller, the coffee quality would likely suffer. I didn't want a K cup machine as I like to make mine very strong. Use good coffee with bottled water and the coffee tastes WAY better than any free "hotel" coffee! And the 3 min wait is so much faster than standing in line at Starbucks! If it breaks in a month I'll let you know, but it seems pretty decent quality especially for the cheap price tag.
Won’t last

Great until it wasn’t! As with many other reviews this is a great little machine until it totally quit working on you in less than a year. Do not spend your money here.

I’ve used this both in my office to make coffee, as well as in my traveling van. I can’t say enough good things about it. The first unit lasted about 8 years, and I’ve just bought a replacement when the first slowed down. It consumes about 600 watts, and the heating element shuts down automatically when the water is used up. Some reviewers have mentioned their concerns about no automatic shut off. I’ve tested this unit with a watt meter, and though the light stays on, the heating element definitely turns off. It makes a good cup of drip coffee, without the need for a k-cup or disposable filter. I carry a small container for the used grounds which I compost, so this makes coffee on the road with no waste in the landfill. It can also make tea or hot chocolate. It takes about 3 minutes to make a cup of coffee, and can handle up to about 14 ounces. This coffee maker is a terrific value. It’s well made, works simply and efficiently, and lasts years. Amended review: After only about 6 weeks of use, over a period of about 5 months, this unit stopped filling my mug. It makes about 6 ounces of coffee and then just shoots out steam. I’ve descaled it which helped a little. I will be pursuing this further through Bella CS, as my unit is well within its 1 year warranty. I will post an update with follow up. At this point I am very disappointed, especially considering how much I liked this coffee maker. Final follow-up: After contacting Bella CS, I had several back and forth emails. They were polite and quick to reply. They required me to provide a lot of documentation, including a video showing the malfunctioning of the coffee maker, and a photo of the model number plate. I understand that, but it took quite a bit of time to fulfill their requirements. Then they asked me to cut the power cord, and send a photo of the unit with the cord cut. And rather than send me a replacement unit, they informed me that the unit is not longer available [it is still for sale on Amazon] and that in 4-6 weeks I will receive a refund check. When I went to look on Amazon, the selling price was about $35, and my refund will be for $27 or so, assuming I get it "in 4-6 weeks". So bottom line? The unit failed within about 6 weeks of use, and after spending about an hour to obtain warranty relief, the company met its obligation, just barely. I really liked this coffee maker, but I don't think I will buy it again.
Not good for 15oz of coffee.

Although the machine is very simple and easy to use, there are a couple of problems. Problem number one is that there is no timer of any sort. It's either on or off. Not sure why since once it makes the coffee, it can't keep the cup warm but can make for a fairly impressive burst of steam if you don't notice it's on and add more water. Problem number two, which is more bothersome since I added an outlet with a timer to take care of Problem one. If you like 15 ounces of coffee and add the recommended amount of coffee grounds, the machine can't handle that much without making a mess. When the coffee grounds swell with moisture, they hit the water dispenser and will then fall into the reservoir when you open it next. I've started adding a little less coffee and it's better, but if you like a 15 ounce cup of strong coffee, this is not the coffee maker for you. The pictures are from using about 3 tablespoons of coffee grinds instead of the 4 that I'd usually use.
