Rollerblade Office Chair Wheels Set of 5

As a former inline skater, I really wanted to like these wheels! I work from home full time and wanted to upgrade my chair. I was using a plastic chair mat but it was starting to crack so I thought now would be a good time to try them since the mat needed to be thrown away and these wheels claimed to be good for direct carpet use. What I noticed right away is the packaging is superb and the wheels feel high quality. The install process was super super easy. Pull the old wheels off and insert the new ones. It took maybe a few minutes to do. This is where things went south. When I went to try the chair, I found the wheels were catching on my carpet and it made moving around difficult. It was a stiff feeling, especially if one wheel was turned perpendicular to the way I was moving. For those curious, my carpet is normal builder grade so I'd say it's pretty average. Since I was using a mat for years, I wanted to get an apples to apples comparison so I put the old wheels back on and to my surprise, I found they performed much better. However, this is probably not good for the carpet long term whereas these wheels might do less damage. For what it's worth, if you have a non-carpeted surface, I'm jealous because these wheels are probably such a joy to use. I imagine they roll around effortlessly! In fact, if I ever move to a new office setup with solid flooring, I will give these another chance. For now though, I need to return them.
