The extra features are certainly nice, but are they worth the $400 (plus tax) ...

I'll give it a solid 4.5 stars. Only dropping half a star because I question the value at full price compared with the normal Genesis II. With the LX, you get stainless grates, flavor bars and the other internal bits. You get the lighted knobs, lighted handle, lighted propane gauge, a side burner, and an enclosed space. You also get about 3000 more BTUs. The extra features are certainly nice, but are they worth the $400 (plus tax) premium over the regular Genesis II? For me, they were, but I was able to get the Grill on sale which made the proposition easier to swallow. Paying the full $899 may be hard to justify, but the extra BTUs and the side burner may make it an easy choice for some people. Overall, if money isn't an option and you only need two main burners and a smaller size grill, this is a fantastic option. The grill gets very hot (over 550 degrees according the temp gauge) and the quality is top-notch. Weber stands behind their products and I fully expect this to last 10 years plus.

Great while it lasted
By A. Maturin on Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2019
I've owned several gas grills. This was, by far, the easiest to assemble and the sturdiest. It was, by far, the best performer. 6 weeks ago, while cooking steaks, I heard an explosion in the grill. It was loud enough to startle me badly. Nothing appeared to be wrong. I finished the steaks, turned off the grill and went inside. Someone noticed the grill was on fire. I shut off the gas valve and the fire went out, but the grill was burnt up. I don't know for sure that the explosion was due to a defect in the grill. I hadn't cleaned out the grease tray after a year of light usage and so the explosion and fire might have been my fault. Or maybe I botched the assembly. Anyway, I went through the customer service ritual. Eventually someone called and offered to sell me a new grill at something like a 20% discount. I had hoped for more. I liked this grill so much, maybe I'll get another one just like it, once I recover from my disappointment with Weber customer service. I'll be sure to keep it clean and not to expect much from Weber if something goes wrong.
