Excellent wok!

Reading all of the other reviews I figure this was a good buy. Having other cast iron pans and skillets I am aware of proper use and cleaning so not afraid of maintaining the wok. I did season it with bacon grease per included instructions first, not because I didn't trust the factory seasoning but because that's just what I do and I had the time before using it. This pan was excellent during the first cook! I ran a good test with shaved pork shoulder, onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, sugar, garlic, ginger, and extremely starchy udon noodles. There was minor sticking from the starch in the udon but that's to be expected as those noodles are notoriously starchy. However I must say that the noodles themselves did not stick to the pan, just the starch that came out during the cooking. I cooked meat first and removed from pan. Then threw in peanut oil, garlic, and ginger for a minute then onions. After a minute threw in the noodles and cooked til slight dry then the sauce and meat. I must say I will be using this often? I purchased a metal wok spatula and it didn't phase the pan or the seasoned coating a bit. The wok looks extremely nice on stove too. Very nice design. I'm not sure what people were complaining about when they were saying it was too heavy. I have a 14in cast iron frying pan I purchased from Cabellas that is twice as heavy as this is. My wife said it wasn't heavy at all either. Maybe they were expecting the weight of a carbon steel wok. Not sure but I was happy with it. Tip: 1. Follow included instructions! 2. Slowly heat up wok then turn to high and let get really hot first. This wok does retain heat the entire cook time bit make sure you get it crazy hot first. 3. The handles are cast iron so they get hot too. Will need oven mitt or silicon glove. About the casting: It is extremely rough on inside but that is by design, meat stays above surface for the most part. Someone fave it 4 instead of 5 stars for a casting defect that did not have anything to do with functionality. To this I say rediculious!! Mine has a small casting defect in the inner bowl but who cares?! I would take a hundred woks that have slight blemishes in them if they cooked like this. It doesn't go on the mantel or in a trophy case, it makes stir fry. Buy with confidence that this is a great wok with a crazy good price. I will probably but one or two more for family. Good Christmas gifts on the cheap! UPDATE: Second use and I thought I would try fried rice. Seriously, I'm impressed! Rice didn't stick at all and everything was done in less than 10 minutes. I did 2 batches cause I needed the heat and turned out great. First batch was still quite hot after second was done. Also in batches I could add what I wanted and let kids have what they wanted. Live it love it love it!
