Still going strong almost 8 years in!
By Brandy Nobles on Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2025
I bought this air fryer for my partner for our first Christmas (2017) and we are still using it in May 2025. We use it at least once or twice a week, and it is still working/cooking like new, despite almost 8 years of use. I recommend it any time someone brings up the topic of air fryers. The basket is the perfect size for 2-3 people and we usually make frozen things like chicken strips/nuggets, fries, mozzarella sticks, and pizza rolls. I cooked raw chicken in it a couple of times and it came out tasty but it was a lot messier than just using the stove or oven. The basket comes apart into two parts that are easy to clean; we never put the pieces in the dishwasher, only hand washed. The rest of the unit just needs a wipe down with a damp cloth from time to time.

What the hell GoWISE?!?!?! ( Potential Fire Hazard )
By John Smith on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2018
Just received this product, I usually wait to write reviews but I might try to return this if I'm not missing something. Negatives 1) Weird plastics smell coming from unit, which isn't the end of the world. A lot of products come with weird smells. Being as this product heats up, It does make me worry about off gassing. I hope the smell goes away quickly and fully. 2) Most worrying issue: This unit has a fairly large exhaust port right under the fan and right next to the heating coil. I cannot fathom why this exists in such a manner. I'm actually afraid to put this item near anything else in my kitchen. It blows out extremely hot air - almost 300 degrees from my limited run - Akin to a small space heater, hair dryer, or a blow dryer for your hands. I'm not sure I even feel comfortable keeping it 10 inches from the wall for fear of it melting/destroying paint or wall fixtures. I'm hoping I'm missing some type of flow reducer or something, why would a device such as this blow out this much hot air?!? I've owned other air fryers which also had rear exhausts and I had no problem keeping them inches from a wall as the exhausts where placed in such a way as not to pump out ridiculous amounts of oven-hot air. 3) The open, close mechanism is not ideal. You just pull, push, but it takes enough force that you physically move the unit when pulling out or pushing in the basket - presumably because it doesn't grip the counter terribly well. Unless you grab the back of the unit when pushing back in the basket you end up pushing the unit all the way back to the wall, which wouldn't be that bad...except for the whole fire hazard aspect. Note: when opening you can just push your thumb against the enclosure as a counter-force to keep it from moving. Closing isn't as simple. 4) Color. Red color looks quite good in the pictures, metallic red. In reality it's more of a plain fire-engine red. Looks much, much worse than in the picture - bordering false advertising. 5) Basket feels a little fragile, seems to have a fair amount of plastic on the handle and clicking mechanism. Slightly worried about longevity. Positives 1) Seems to work well enough, given my limited testing. Food on the bottom did not cook ideally, but I stopped the test early, so that is likely not a fault of the unit 2) Neat simplicity features, I don't really need them but a lot of buttons make it look fancy and I assume add a level of convenience for new comers. 3) Relatively quiet operation. Starts near silent and gears up to a mild fan noise. Much less noise than my other air fryer. Fan seems to not glide that well though, it's hard to explain, it's not a clicking but there seems to be audible resistance at certain speeds. Not sure if that's a bad thing, it's not really a negative noise wise. Summary The unit has a nice looking figure, presets for cooking common items, and seems to cook rather well and fairly quietly. The color is a complete misrepresentation and they should remove their photo-shopped product images for ones representative of the actual product. Unit has slight design issues with open, closing relative to its base. Basket handle is not of the highest quality. Unit comes with a weird plastic smell. These issues, while not ideal, could be dismissed. I'm having a real hard time getting past the next issue though. WARNING: This thing might actually be a fire hazard. Blows out huge amounts of oven-hot air straight out the back. I'm not even sure how I'm going to reasonably keep this on my counter. I measured 300~ degree exhaust at origin and 150+ degree at the recommended 5 inches, 110+ at the max distance I could use on my counter, 10 inches. I didn't hold the thermometer there for the full cycle though, only a minute or two. I am worried that those temperatures over 10-20-30 minutes could do damage to items, walls behind the unit even at the max distance, much less the recommended distance. My question is: What am I missing? How is this item rated so highly with such issues? Am I missing a piece or a concept needed for proper/safe operation? May take some pictures or a video of the issues to illustrate them, or leave a thermometer taped up at a certain distance over a full cycle.
