SwissGear Sion Softside 25" Checked Luggage

I bought one of these cases a couple of years ago, and really loved it. It's bright, it's well made, and it looks and feels good. That case would have received a five-star review from me. So when I decided I needed a second case for a long trip, I didn't hesitate to order another of the same. The first I received was visibly damaged and buckled in, so I boxed and returned it without looking too closely--but when its replacement was also buckled and distorted, I looked again, and realized this was not the same case any more. The zippers, previously the bright steel SwissGear-branded ones shown in the main product pictures, are now a plain, ordinary black (which is really obvious when a new case is next to an older one). The bottom of the back, which had a protective cover across the whole lower section, now has one little bumper. And the outside just feels more flimsy. It's no surprise that this case arrives buckled, it's just not built as well as the older one. It's a shame, but new products being built more cheaply than their older versions is painfully common these days. I've attached a picture, with my old, traveled case on the left with the steel zipper tags, and the brand-new case on the right (AFTER I unbuckled its flimsy caved-in corner). They are the same size, same color, and essentially the same design--but despite that, they just aren't the same piece of luggage. It maybe still isn't bad, but it's distinctly worse than its older sibling, and the build quality no longer justifies why it costs more than other comparable cheap luggage. The old case I bought was money well spent, but for this one, the price has gone up, and the quality's gone down. A disappointment.
