I can't believe I have waited this long!!!

So, I am by no means a chef, but I do know my way around a kitchen. I cook everyday, and try to elevate each dish. Like a lot of folks I know, we tend to cook the same things over and over. It was my birthday, and I decided that I wanted a new set of pots, and pans. I searched the internet wide and far, comparing the stainless steel, and the copper cookware. I didn't think that I would be able to afford a set of the copper pans that I was researching until I saw this set on Amazon. I originally was looking at the 11 piece set which was a good price point for copper cookware, but opted for the 7 piece set instead. Honestly, I wouldn't have used a couple of the pieces in the larger set. So, on my birthday, I placed my order. Two days later my package arrived. After reading all of the reviews online for this product, I was certainly on the lookout for a couple of the things that were mentioned. I unpacked each piece and was amazed with the nice weight they all had. I unpacked each one at a time, and washed it per the instructions. I was amazed how evenly the pieces heated up with just the warmth of the hot water I washed them in. This tells me that even cooking is to be expected. I couldn't wait to dive in cooking, so that first night I made a pot of my Spaghetti sauce in the 8qt stock pot. It had a much better taste than in my other cookware that I had. The next night I took on a Chicken Francaise which came out better than it had in my non stick cookware that I have had for a few years. The even cooking of the chicken, and then the sauce came out very good for me. Tonight, I am trying out a beef bourguignon. It is in the oven now. I am so very pleased thus far with this set only after almost 2 weeks of ownership. I did see the comment regarding the lids being flimsy. I however think if they were any heavier, then the weight of the pan would be too heavy to master for some. I know that I am not as strong as I once was, and having carpel tunnel and such. I did also purchase the BKF suggested by one of the wonderful reviewers, thank you for that it is great stuff. All in all, I just feel that my cooking has been elevated since owning this set. I know that sounds crazy, but cooking to me is an art. With art you arouse senses such as sight, which this set is very beautiful, smell, everything seems to smell better cooking in these pots, touch, the weight, and sturdy construction was beyond my expectation. Wether your are a regular home cook, like myself, or a more experienced chef, I do feel and believe that you will not be disappointed in this purchase. I will be displaying my small set from a rack, I know that copper changes color with use, and to me, that is the beauty of this metal. I will keep you updated with my progress and anything new and different I come up with. ps. I did see when registering my set on Cuisinart.com that these sets have been discontinued. The same 7 piece set on their website was 999.99. What a great deal this was for me.

Updates over the year

~12/3/13~ I just received this set in the mail today. I was surprised by how big the box was that they came in and I immediately delved into the box. Each pot and pan that I pulled out was not only beautiful, but extremely heavy. I immediately started washing each piece and I was somewhat amazed by how the water gathered, I know that sounds strange but it felt like I was washing a non-stick instead of stainless steel, this added to my excitement because I couldn't help but wonder if it meant that things would not stick like they do in my other stainless steel cookware. Next, I took one of the skillets and cooked a chicken breast, covered it, lost track of time and ultimately (accidentally) left it in the skillet for 15 minutes (on low). Keep in mind that I did not flip the chicken. I tossed it in a plate and ate it, it tasted like all the flavor had been maintained, the top was just as cooked as the bottom which proved the even cooking and the pan was a breeze to clean. The only thing that seemed weird was that the bottom of the pan turned this brilliant color, I am not sure why or if that will go away. This is the part where I put my two-cents into other peoples cons. 1. The lids are great, they are not flimsy at all, they are just lids. They are sturdy and not bendable at all, they serve their purpose and seal the pots and pans perfectly. 2. I am impressed with the steamer and am happy that the set came with it as it will be incredibly useful. 3. I think that the sizes of the pots and pans are perfect. They are all standard sizes and the sauté pan is huge! Overall, this is a bargain. I paid $358 for the set with tax and I truly feel like I got a steal. This set is EASILY as nice as a $3000 set that I seen at a cooking show. I am counting on these to last me forever and they should because they come with a lifetime warranty. If you are hesitant, don't be. It is a lot of money but the design and quality will blow you away. ~12/13/13~ It has been almost two weeks since I received this set. I still like them but am a little frustrated about how high maintenance they are. If you don't dry them right after you wash them, they will get water stains. If you heat it too hot, they will turn red for a few days with spots of colors. They also scratch pretty easy. I still like the even cooking, but I was going to hang this set up, now I don't know if I want to. ~5/06/2014~ I have now owned these pots and pans for about 6 months. They have held up well, they are still strong, no dents or broken pieces. However, I am still not happy about how easily they have stained. They don't really resemble the set I bought 6 months ago. They are discolored, water marks everywhere (even though I dry them right after I wash them). Also, there was one time that I left one of the small saucer pans in the sink over night and it looks horrible now. It looks like I have owned them for 10-15 years. I have a stainless steel pan that I bought at Target that I use more than these because it still looks nice. These are just too high maintenance and if I could go back, I would have purchased a stainless steel set instead. If you are planning to hang them up then I hope you are not planning on using them because they get ugly fast. ~11/30/2014 I see that these are coming up soon for Cyber Monday so I want to give another update. They are all still perfectly intact and holding up as great as the day I got them. They had all become discolored with a brown film that seemed to have formed over their beautiful color; however, I did use vinegar and salt to clean them which helped a ton. I still think they are high maintenance but their quality cannot be ignored. Plus it looks like the Cyber Monday deal will be better than the one I got last year making them a great bargain!
