This thing is pretty neat and not too difficult to put together. I had it fully assembled myself in a few hours. Definitely take your time and pay attention to the instructions. Like another reviewer, I got a little confused about the combination part, but looking at the packaging helped. Just make sure the numbers on the combination are facing the right way. It was a fun build. I did have sandpaper, but didn't use it. I just used an xacto knife to remove the burs from the pieces. I also put melted candle wax on the axles. I'm pretty sure it helped with installing them. The pieces, when assembled, rotate rather well, despite me not putting any wax on them. I posted some photos with this review so people can get an idea of the size, and what the instructions look like.

I wish it was good, but it wasn't.

I have never written a review, but I felt like this was necessary. First off, the instructions are not detailed enough for how intricate the design is. The wooden pieces don't fit well together, if you put ANY force on the pieces they will break! And the toothpicks...oh my Lord...the toothpicks!! That part of the design must have been created by the devil himself. But, despite all of that, and by the grace of God, my son and I finally got the lock almost altogether! He lined up his passcode and put the two pieces together. With pure excitement he tried to turn the code to lock it, but to his horror, the numbered code gears would barely budge. When he tried to open it (to see what the problem was) all the pieces fell apart!!! When we put it back together two main pieces BROKE and now it's just a pile of broken, CHEAP wood. Awesome birthday present, right?! After I bandaged my bloody fingertips I decided to write this review to say -- It's just an awful product and we're very disappointed, so please don't buy it!
