Nice station and at a good price point.

I should point out that the picture for this unit shows just one solar panel, (it might have been an earlier model). Mine came with two panels. Also, not pictured is that this also comes with the SmartHUB, for putting your station online if you want to share your data and/or remotely monitor your local weather online though Weather Underground and MyAcuRite. Easy setup and everything is working right out of the box. Just follow the easy instructions and in the correct order (FIRST, put batteries in the 5-in-1, THEN plug in the display. The 5-in-1 instructions say to pick a setting on the switches in the battery compartment and match that setting to other AcuRite devices. There is no need to with this particular display, but you may need to with the optional lightning sensor, which I don't have. Like most wireless devices, this changes the frequency of the transmitter should you be getting interference from other sources. So if you plan to mount the unit far away, you should probably check the signal strength shown on the display in the upper left hand corner, to see if another setting gives you a better signal. The display looks very nice and is easy to read. There is no built-in battery backup so if you have to unplug it or lose power, you lose your weather history (but not the setup settings, so it may or may not be a big deal to you). So find a permanent place to plug it in. Mine is plugged into a ups battery backup that I have for all my electronics, (TV, computer, modem, router, etc. Sometimes during a power outage my internet is still working so I shutdown my computer and use my ipad to get back online through my Wifi. The ups will power my modem and router for at least an hour, and in the case of a storm, I'd like my weather station to still be operational (the SmartHUB is also on the ups). Setting up with Weather Underground is free and easy. After you open an account they will assign you a station name and password. You'll need these to use MyAcuRite when you register with them to see your online 'dashboard.' All in all it seems to be a good system and at a good price. Serious 'weathermen' will obviously want one of those thousand dollar stations, but for the average person this one will do just fine.

Works well, except for wind velocity!
By R.W. on Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2018
This item has worked pretty well for the nearly two years we've had it. It's a little tricky getting all the settings made correctly, but kinda fun at the same time. The indoor display is attractive and easily read. The outdoor unit is durable, although the mounting setup requires caution because the included small screws do not inspire confidence. I used larger ones. The BIG disappointment is this: I purchased this as a gift to my wife, who being a farm girl, likes to have real time and recorded weather data and, ESPECIALLY THE WIND SPEED, since we live in a high wind area. Being older and a little unsteady on tall ladders, in order to make sure the calibration process was successful and WOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPEATED, I built a solid, yet portable platform and attached the unit to that. After successfully calibrating and testing all functions (including wind measurements), I then dismounted the unit from the portable platform, and attached it to the tall post erected for it. All functions were normal EXCEPT THE WIND VELOCITY, which was the primary reason for obtaining this unit!! The instructions had said that if this type of thing happened, it may require re-calibration. GREAT! Now I have to go up that ladder, carefully remove the too lightly constructed mount, bring it down, re-calibrate it, attach a new substrate to the top of the post to accommodate new screw holes (to avoid stripping), crawl up that ladder with the unit in hand (AGAIN), and very carefully re-attach the unit. Then HOPE the finicky thing works as it should this time!! It's been almost two years and I haven't had the courage to do all that, so we are STILL without wind data! I will eventually, employ a trusted younger friend to make the climb and go through the dismount and re-mount process for me, but that opportunity has not yet availed itself to me. TMI? Probably, but that's why the 3-star instead of a 5-star rating! If you are young and not an old retired guy like me, and can easily run up and down a ladder, you shouldn't have any problems with this unit. Thanks for listening to my rant! ;-)
