I was overwhelmed with it's good looks and size
By Meow on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2018
Friday, August 17, 2018 I ordered this on January 7, 2018. This refurbished 14-cup coffee maker works great! I have NOT had ANY problems with it so far. As I sit here typing, I stop briefly to take a sip of my just now freshly brewed coffee. I purchased coverage in case this coffee maker breaks down. As of now, it's continuing to work great. A tip that I discovered that makes even cheap coffee taste better is to press the "Bold" button for a richer coffee. The "Bold" feature drips slower and gets more flavor out of your ground coffee. That works for me! It still brews the coffee in a timely manner, too. THERE IS A REVIEWER HERE THAT STATED the company keeps out the word refurbished in its title and that reviewer considers it a deliberate effort on the part of Cuisinart to mislead its customers. Right at the top of THIS ITEM'S DESCRIPTION, there is a sentence that clearly states, "This Certified Refurbished product is tested & certified by Cuisinart to look and work like-new. The product includes all original accessories, and is backed by a 90-day warranty." DISENCHANTED REVIEWER, please go to Amazon's selection of coffee makers and find the Cuisinart 14-cup coffee maker (I believe it's a red coffee maker). The price is $60 plus some change (maybe State sales tax, too). You can get a BRAND NEW COFFEE MAKER for about $1 more than what I and probably the rest of us that purchased our refurbished coffee makers paid. From my experience, this is an excellent coffee maker. At the time I purchased my refurbished coffee maker, it was selling...new...for about $99...in the $100 ball park. NEVER have I purchased a refurbished item of ANY kind! I was nervous about purchasing my refurbished coffee maker and it turned out GREAT! I can attest to the fact that the company does not and did not hide this information and did not when I purchased my coffee maker in January, 2018. It is EXCELLENT! My January, 2018, review: Thank you ALL for your feedback. I ordered this coffee maker and it arrived this afternoon (Wed. 01-10-2018 ... it arrived quickly; the weekend and here today). At first, I was overwhelmed with it's good looks and size. I've been using a 10-cup simple coffee maker and was concerned about coping successfully with programming it. I had a programmable coffee maker some years ago and once I relaxed, I went to this coffee maker and found if you've ever had a programmable coffee maker (and some other programmable appliances), this is not too different. It's easy to set the clock (just like the clock on my microwave). After running water through it 2 times, I made coffee for me ... one 16 ounce mug. I forgot to press the 2-4 cup feature. I use ZeroWater filtered water (EXCELLENT company and product). I poured the water into the water tank, put the coffee into the coffee cone (you need cone coffee filters ... It comes with 3 white filters), and just pressed brew. The coffee maker made 1 perfect mug of coffee. Just saying, if you goof the first times you use it, this coffee maker will do it right anyway although I recommend doing it the way they made it to work. It is a quiet brewer and does 14 cups quickly (the amount of water I used to run through it before brewing). I had a nice aroma of the coffee, too, while it was brewing (the aroma brings back good memories of waking up to my mom percolating coffee in the kitchen). Do not overfill the water tank so you don't get a "lake" of water on your counter (yes, I learned that through actual experience). I was concerned about buying a refurbished coffee maker as I have never bought anything refurbished. The instructions refer to a gold cone and mine came with a black sturdy plastic cone. That's not a complaint. Just letting you know. If I discover anything I think you all need to know, I will update my review. Right now, it's my opinion the other reviewers here are giving honest and good reviews for this coffee maker. Thank you all again for your honest reviews and answering my questions!

If this is refurbished, how bad did it leak before? Serial # 716FR

Pretty, but leaked. Even had the quality control sticker number 25 on the bottom, so somebody took the time to put that there. The owners manual said that if there is a problem to contact Cuisinart by phone. I did that and I got parked on hold by their phone answering system. I waited for all of ten seconds before they came on in person and when they found out I had a leaky coffee maker they transferred me right over to the vice president of marketing and sent me out a brand new high end model-just kidding. No. They parked me on hold and I don't do hold real well. I waited maybe a minute before hanging up and emailing. Of course, I believe in second chances, so I gave them one through the email channels. I don't want to say their response was sluggish, but when I was standing there making perc coffee with my camping coffee pot for more than one morning, it seemed as those their response was sluggish. Just saying. So their options were A) for me to pay the non-refundable shipping to get a warranty replacement through Cuisinart or B) Free return through Amazon. Naturally I selected Amazon, but I made sure to purchase a really slick pour through coffee maker and kettle around the same time as I was doing the return. After reading another 20 reviews on coffee machines I decided that it looks like they all have leak problems sooner or later, perhaps part of a planned obsolescence. I checked out the Zojirushi one, because I am really impressed with my Zojirushi bread maker, but the reviews for their coffee maker were so-so too. Apparently all these coffee machines are made in China now and they aren't very long lasting. My Mr. Coffee, which was a decent machine sprung a leak which started this whole kerfuffle anyway. I even considered the Bunn coffee maker but the reviews on that weren't even that great. I guess there's no school like the old school. I won't come downstairs for coffee already made, but it will probably be better coffee for it. Go figure. Anyway, hope the review helps.
