I am very happy with her
By Tracy Rider on Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2018
I bought Zoe because I wanted different ethnicities in my dolls. Zoe is thinner than an Our Generation or Madame Alexander doll, and a little shorter too, but if you check out the photo you will see she fits into clothing knit for Our Generation dolls. This was important because most patterns are made for American Girl or Our Gen dolls, and I didn't want to start a pattern or clothing collection from scratch.I am very happy with her, and I love the range of motion in the head. No problem with the legs so far, as other reviews state. My grand daughter adores her. I like the look of her age- not too young, not too old- the best look of all the 18" dolls so far I think. I haven't purchased any other of the Adora dolls but I like that the faces seems to be different, not the same face with different hair and eye colors. The clothing is decently made, I'm just not into most store bought looks. I do love the coat! The price is a little steep, I got her for $48, but I see the prices are higher for other dolls, which I don't like about Amazon. In general, I'm impressed, happy she fits other 18" doll clothing, and would recommend her.

Doll is stained, smells chemical, and has stiff joints
By Candor McMufflekins on Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2022
I've bought many Adora dolls and this one is not like the others. The logo on her packaging is in a different font: the first clue she was different. She didn't come with a cute trading card detailing her personality and interests, either (all the other Adora dolls I've bought did): the second clue. And she was attached to her box differently: the third clue. But the moment I tried to move her arms, I realised that it wasn't just the packaging that was different.Don't get me wrong, the doll has a cute face and her outfit is well-made, particularly the coat. But she and her clothes smell so strongly of vinyl fumes that I'm going to have to let everything air out for several days before I can even think about giving her away. The smell is very strong, stringent, and icky.Secondly, when I undressed the doll I discovered the cute coat had left black stains on her neck and arms - and her shoes and leg-warmers had left red and black stains on her feet and ankles! So now I'll have to thoroughly wash the clothing before I dare put them on another doll, lest they stain anything else. But the worst part is the doll's joints. Her head moves smoothly, but her arms are so stiff you have to almost force them to move, and they make a loud creaking noise when you do. They seem to be of similar construction to Journey Girl joints... the same kind of joints that were on an Amazon JG doll I bought whose arms came off in my hands. With how incredibly stiff they are, I won't be surprised if this doll's arms snap off, too. Her leg joints are even stiffer - the legs can't actually move in or out, just around in their sockets. I know they're meant to have some in-and-out movement, but the understuffed torso doesn't provide enough leverage for the legs to be moved. The limbs and even chest are also squishy, which is not the case with my other Adora dolls. I suspect the terrible smell is because this doll is constructed of inferior vinyl. I'm really, really hoping this is an older doll and the problems are relics that have since been remedied, and not the other way around. The only other Adora doll I've gotten that's been stained was the superhero doll, Astrid - but she had normal joints and normal vinyl. It's a good thing this Zoe was not my first Adora purchase, because if she were, I would not have bought another one.If you're looking for a doll with this face mold, get Athletic Lily or Artistic Zoe instead. (I haven't seen Cool Cat Zoe so I can't comment on her.) Don't get this version. Her coat is adorable, soft, and well-made, but it stains... badly. As do the leg warmers and shoes. And even the safe-to-use shirt and leggings won't be usable til that chemical smell dissipates. It may *never* dissipate from the doll. Adora has some great products. This is not one of them.
