A Little Louder Than Predecessor
By Tech on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2020
This is a great fan. It pushes the most air of any pedestal fan, by far, and is super quiet, though I find its predecessor (VU551) to be slightly more quiet. Something to note on these fans... There is a knob on the lower part of the motor housing, below the controls on the rear side, to keep the neck with the controls stable. If you move the fan around, make sure to ALWAYS pick it up below that knob, from the silver extension piece. My older fan's knob broke from lifting it by the curved control area. So grab the pipe instead if you want to avoid that. I know people complain of rust, but I would routinely take apart the cage, bring it outside and hose off the dust. I let it air dry and never had a rust issue. The "silent sleep mode" is basically useless. It lowers the fan so much to be silent, that there's hardly any breeze. The fan is plenty quiet on it's own on the low setting. Even though this fan performs well, it is cheaply made. It looks nice, but all of the plastic parts wear down and are easy to break. So be extra gentle when handling it. Is it worth the price? Yes, for around$100. Amazon routinely adjusts the price, so keep an eye out. I caught it at $95 a week ago. Now it's up to $165 again, from $135 a few days earlier. Fall/Winter are definitely the best times to catch a deal on this fan. We live in a disposable society, so don't expect it to last forever. My last one lasted 5 years and most of the parts are the same. You WILL NOT find a better performing fan that is this quiet. It's not like a Lasko fan that sounds like a tornado. The "turbo" mode on this fan is more quite than the low setting on my Lasko pedestal fan. You get what you pay for, just don't over pay.

Didn't live to expectations.
By K. on Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2025
I had high hopes for this fan, given its brand reputation. Initially, the fan performed well, providing excellent airflow and living up to its promise of quiet operation. The assembly was straightforward, and the design is sleek and modern, fitting well in my bedroom. The remote control and multiple speed settings were convenient features that I appreciated. However, my satisfaction was short-lived. After just five months of use, the fan suddenly stopped working. It wouldn't even turn on, which was incredibly disappointing, especially considering the price. I tried troubleshooting by checking the fuse and cleaning the parts, but to no avail. This durability issue is a significant drawback, as I expected a product from a reputable brand like Rowenta to last much longer. Despite its initial performance and appealing features, the fact that it broke down so quickly is a major letdown. I would have given it a higher rating if it had lasted longer. As it stands, I can only give the Rowenta Pedestal Fan 3 stars.
