45 Pint Model used in a 10x12 bedroom. Power: 450 watts 115 volts 4 amps The power usage is less than my little space heater. The inner circuitry is good since neither the cord nor the outlet nor the device show any signs of heating. Noise: This unit features a compressor and a fan. Both are noisy and harder to tune out than my regular fan and my space heater. Maybe that is because I am not used to the sound, but I am not sure. I don't know if I could sleep with it on, but it's not, like, industrially loud. I can read with it on and watch videos. I would compare the sound to those metal water fountains with the vents that you see in public places. Installation: Seeing it out of the package was a little intimidating, and the instructions seemed hard to understand, but installation turned out to be easy. All I had to do was take all the accessories off the device (they are taped on), plug the castors in, pull the bucket out and make sure the float was in the right position, put the bucket back in, and that's it. After that, I just had to plug it in and turn it on. Effectiveness: There are three ways that I sense this thing is working. 1. Verification from separate hygrometer This unit has a built in hygrometer, and I have a separate, low cost hygrometer. After I have the machine on for a short while, both have similar readings. However, when I start the machine, they don't. The machine tends to show much higher humidity when I turn it on, like 80, whereas my other hygrometer might show 65, but that 80 quickly falls as the machine operates, and eventually they both read ~50. 2. Bucket fills I empty the bucket every other day, and I am not the one putting water in it, so the machine is most likely working and working well! 3. Mousepad When I use this device, my mousepad becomes more slick. It feels more consistent and less swampy, because obviously the water is being pulled out of it. I feel like this machine is like a secret weapon, and it's funny, because now I don't want to play unless my room has been dehumidified. I haven't tested whether this thing keeps my clothes and linens from stinking yet just from sitting in my closet, but I am optimistic about it. Final Thoughts One nice thing about this machine is that it's made by a company that I've actually heard of.

Short lifespan

This unit worked ok when new but always rattled badly when the compressor kicked in. Less than a year later it overheats and dies therefore not lowering the humidity. Something like this should last a few years. We had these growing up and they seemed to go at least five years.
