Smooth even grind, best cup of coffee I have ever had.
By Remi on Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2019
After having an ok grinder for a few years a Mr coffee disk-burr grinder it was cheap but did the trick for 4 years I figure it was 35 bucks I got my money's worth. So as usual when kitchen gadgets die I usually upgrade. I have been doing research on coffee and I have read over and over a smooth uniform grind is a way to get an incredible cup of coffee. ( I was not getting this with the Mr. Coffee grinder). With the Mr coffee grinder I got a lot of dust, and odd granules of coffee at any grind, the coarse setting was like shattered beans with a ton of odd sized pieces. The medium grind was like corse rock salt, the Mr coffee could not make fine enough coffee for espresso or any other use for fine ground coffee (cooking). So I looked at reviews on many sites and found I really liked what I saw and read with the Ariete -Delonghi Electric Coffee Grinder So I placed my order it arrived in 2 days as promised. I had some really great beans from Tunnel City coffee a local small batch roaster. So I tested the Ariete -Delonghi Electric Coffee Grinder and was shocked at the consistency of the grind. On its finest setting, the grinds are like fine baby powder on the coarsest setting its like rough Kosher salt. This is immensely different compared to the Mr Coffee Grinder which was always too coarse on any setting. So I made a small 1 cup French Press pot first with a setting of 16 the max setting coarsest. Brewed the coffee for 6 min and was so impressed that I got all these flavors and subtleties I could usually not taste or smell in this brand of coffee. I added some milk and sugar and it was so smooth I had not had coffee this good since I stayed in 4-star hotel Greenbriar West Virginia as a kid 35 years ago. Next, I took out my Aero Press. The ground on 10 a bit finer than medium grind knowing the Aero press likes finer coffee since the brew time is drastically shorter 1min. Made this coffee and literally, I have finally drank the best cup of coffee I have drank in my entire life on my second try with this new grinder. Both cups of coffee on the bottom of the cups had literally maybe a pinch of sediment from the coffee brew and grind a sign of a consistent uniform grind. I am blown away at what a conical burr grinder can do. This Ariete -Delonghi Electric Coffee Grinder If you are on the fence on what to buy is a steal. I worked as a barista and we had a 700 dollar commercial grinder and this 100.00 grinder makes better coffee than the expensive commercial grinder does. Literally with a french press and an Aero press two incredible cups of coffee. This goes to show me that in fact when you put great beans, dialed in brew times and smooth consistent grind together you can have an incredible cup of coffee any time. Now to dial things in like science and really strive for the perfect cup of coffee. Buy this grinder it is an amazing buy at 100.00 dollars. You won't be disappointed. Now I can finally cook with coffee grinds the finest setting is so fine its like coarse dust. Perfect for sneaking coffee flavor into recipes like brownies, cookies, stews, and other things. It's small, really quiet, not big at all fits on my counter nicely, and is really clean compared to the last grinder. Its mostly plastic but does not feel cheap. The grinder comes out easily for cleaning occasionally and you can take the hopper off for cleaning or switching beans (I wonder if I can get another hopper and switch beans any time from dark roast to light roast ) that would be great! Then store the beans in the hopper in the freezer. The instruction manual is nice and simple easy to understand as well. Buy this Grinder you won't be disappointed at all. On my second try literally the best cup of coffee I have ever had and I'm not dialed in yet with this new grinder!

Works well with very little mess. UPDATED one year later!
By D. Ross on Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2018
UPDATE after one year's use-The grinder is still function well, the only real issue I've experienced with it's durability could, however, be a deal breaker for someone. The ground coffee collector intake (hole in the lid) meets a rubber seal on the outlet of the discharge chute of the grinder itself. This seal prevents coffee grounds from spewing out onto everything. I wondered how long the seal would last due to the tight fit between the canister top and the machine base. A few days ago, while disassembling the machine for cleaning, I noticed that the seal is torn. There is no obvious procedure to replace this seal either; it appears to be a non replaceable item. So there we have it. Once the grounds begin spewing out of the damaged seal, this machine will be worthless to me. There may be a way to glue a large rubber donut seal to the top of the lid, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. ANOTHER issue, although not a durability item, is the static in the plastic collector cup. You might not have an issue with it if you live in a humid climate, otherwise, it can be a pain to deal with. Hope this helps someone! My first burr grinder cost around $35 here on Amazon, it ground coffee just fine, however, the mess it made created more trouble than it was worth, so the seller kindly issued a refund: Bellemain Burr Coffee Grinder. If the manufacturer could modify the Bellemain to discharge the ground coffee down rather than blow it out the side into the static laden receptacle (and all over the machine and the counter) it would rate five stars. Most of the inexpensive grinders I looked at function similarly. As for the DeLonghi grinder, well, I don't know how it can get better than this for under $100. Hopefully the machine has some longevity built into it, if so, there is no reason to spend any more than the cost of this machine.Read about the features, it's self explanatory. I placed the grind adjustment on 11 the first time around and ground a perfect pot of coffee, it worked wonderful for my Bunn machine. My coffee is strong, I use 8 ounces ground per 24 ounces of water. The bitterness we suffered due to the lawnmower style blade coffee grinder is gone, finally! Even the timer is simple, I chose the fourth position, it grinds my 8 ounces of coffee, clears the burr for a couple seconds and shuts off. Practically zero static in the grounds cup (which is plastic), no mess, NONE!You can easily pay double the price for similar performance. Hopefully it lasts for a few years.
