NutriChef Bluetooth Meat Thermometer

I received this thermometer for fathers day 2019. The wireless app and multiple probe design were some of the selling features. Out of the box, the device seems to be solidly built and feels like a quality device. Even the probes feel substantial and made to last. The unit and probes are pretty self explanatory and worked as expected. It was a nice surprise to find the unit is magnetic and will hold to the side table of the grill. This anchors the display nicely so even as you move the probes, the unit stays put. Having two probes was also a strong selling feature. The ability to track multiple pieces of varying density and thickness has been a challenge for me with a standard kitchen thermometer and often requires opening the grill more than I would like. This means loosing heat and disrupting the cooking process. With the ability to run multiple probes, this can be easily avoided and dealt with. In fact, this unit can handle up to six probes. (I only have two) I downloaded the companion app and the pairing was extremely easy and fast. One of the first things I noticed was the display was in Celsius. This was easily rectified in the settings of the app. The app is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I was quickly able to set temperature alarms and even custom temperature profiles for things I like to grill. Being able to "set it and forget it" was great. I was able to keep the grill closed and still know exactly where I was at in the process. Once I reached the final temperature, my phone let me know I was done. There is even a graph of temperature over time which allows you to see exactly the temperature progression which allows you to estimate when you'll be done. That's a nice feature when you're trying to time multiple parts of a meal so that everything is done at the same time. While the main unit seems well done, the app is really where this shines. From a range perspective I had no issues with connectivity. However, I did not exceed approximately 25 feet from the grill. Overall my initial impressions are that this device is well made and with the addition of the app, offers some really compelling features for the average griller to get more consistent, quality results. I'm really looking forward to putting this to good use.
