Definitely works for making beer
By FrustratedInClaremont on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2020
This burner definitely works for making beer. I typically boil 7 gallons of wort reducing it to 5.5 gallons. This burner handles that easily, raising the temperature by nearly 4F per minute (3.8F/minute). This with the supplied 20 PSI regulator and my (typically) half full 20lbs propane tanks (high pressure propane, not low pressure propane, not natural gas). * Adjusting the air mix was simple; once set, it's good for low or high flame output * Sturdy, easy to assemble frame; no qualms putting a 15 gallon boil kettle atop it. NOTE: with the supplied 0 - 20 PSI regulator and a standard 20 lbs propane tank (which is only filled to 80% and hence about 16 to 17 lbs), you will NOT achieve 200,000 BTUs with this burner. The burner itself is only rated for 200,000 BTUs but not supplied with a regulator, hose, and orifice which can achieve that. And that's okay for brewing beer! If you really need the full 200,000 BTUs then do your research regarding the regulator, orifice, line size, and tank size that you will need: these ALL come into play. Is my tank capable of producing the necessary volume of propane vapor from liquid per minute? Can my regulator handle it? Can my line carry that throughput? Can the orifice at the end of the line present it? These all need to be considered and can readily be researched. Or better yet, a specialist consulted to give advice. (There's reasons why road side cook chefs use much larger propane tanks: it's not just to have more propane because they use more, but to also be able to vaporize it faster -- to present larger volumes of it per second so as to drive higher BTUs for their combined gear.)

These burners quit immediately
By Jerilee on Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2024
I purchased two of these burners. They arrived via Amazon. When I tried to fill out the warranty card, the Concord company would not warranty because I did not buy directly from them. On the first day both burners worked. On the second day one died. A week later the 2nd one died. These two burners are not warrantied because I purchased them from Amazon. I've no recourse. I'm simply out the funds. I've now replaced them with an item directly through my local Ace Hardware. While the burner heating area isn't as large, it WORKS. I use the burners in my business and it matters to my bottom line. I do not recommend the burner in any way.
