The blade found on the older version was much easier to remove. This blade is quite difficult to remove and that’s just an accident waiting to happen. It requires a lot of force to dislodge the blade from the housing, so you can either pinch the blade and pull (with the sharp edge facing your palm) and hope the blade doesn’t cut your hand, or you can insert something like a chopstick into the hole in the blade and push outward, which has the potential to dull the blade if it hits something. Jerky movements and sharp objects are not good combinations. Even the plastic housing isn’t nearly as solid as the older model. Feels very plasticky. Because of the danger of removing the blade to clean, I intend to leave the blade in the housing and use the dishwasher. Hopefully the spray reaches inside adequately. Actually, I intend to use my old one as much as possible. Sure, it’s broken, but even broken it’s still far safer and feels much nicer to use. Frankly, this model is a safety hazard. If you need to remove the blade, maybe try wrapping the exposed part with a towel and pulling on that. I don’t often take the time to complain about a purchase. I think this is only the second negative review I’ve ever done in my life.
