Beautiful! Just what I needed
By j_jones on Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2023
I really wanted an artist taboret for my little chair in corner of the living room where I tend to pile all my art supplies and stuff. However, if you search for artist taboret, they start at around $700! That's an absurd price, so I settled on this piece. All the pieces are solid hardwood, except for the drawer bottoms and the cosmetic backing. Really a deal overall, I think. Took an hour or so for me to assemble. The instructions say don't use power tools. However, there are no pilot holes for most of the screws and unless you are really good at holding two boards at a right angle while driving in a screw by hand, well, I was not. I wound up with two places where the screw didn't go in straight and it split the wood! Luckily only inside where you can't see it, but I went ahead and found my tiniest drill bit and made some pilot holes for the screws for the drawer assembly and after that it all went smoothly. Also, they add a piece of wood they call the 'gate leg bracket'. However, with that piece in place, the drop leaf doesn't hang straight when not in use, so I removed it as I don't feel it is really necessary. Other than that, one of the wheels is reluctant to turn, but aside from that small issue, I am very happy with it!

"Real Wood" "No Particle Board" - NOT
By Barbara McCray on Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2021
Barely usable product for the price but it is severely misadvertised. Masonite drawer bottoms and unit back - that is in my book NOT REAL WOOD. It is true it doesn't use particle board, but very thin Masonite which is ground wood pulp glued and heated and is a step down from particle board not up. Easily soaks up water and disintegrates. The thin Masonite backing is nailed on with tiny nails (to provide increased rigidity). You have to guess where to place the nails and they are hard to start into dense Masonite and it is easy to miss the wood side panels. The older ones of these at least used thicker masonite and used screws in predrilled holes. They have made a cheap furniture item even cheaper "One more nickle". Drawers are only rated at ten pounds and likely that is too much. It costs too much for what it is. We had a previous version of this product and it is much better made was shipped preassembled with glued joints and much heavier construction throughout. I will keep it, but would not have bought it if I had known how poorly it was made.
