Amazon Basics Octagonal Playpen

I don't have many benchmarks in terms of quality of other soft crates but I was not really impressed with this Amazon Basics soft crate. It's easy to fold (if you fold it upside down). I like how it has removable bottom, top and sides with velcro to hold up the soft doors if needed. The bottoms are made of a plastic liner so it should make clean up a bit easier however, the zippers at the bottom do not appear to be water tight, so leakage most likely will occur if you did not put a layer on top. Zippers do not seem sturdy. They are bulky and clunky and I am not sure how they would have held up to heavy use. The mesh windows also are very thin thread, so if you have a pet that would claw at it, itll most likely fail at some point. My biggest complaint and the reason I returned this is the off-gassing and plastic smell. I tried airing it out in the sun for a full few days and I just could not get the smell out. It made me feel nauseous, I can't imagine what a pet with a much more sensitive nose would feel. Some reviewers said they did not have a smell so maybe its a lottery, but mine did and so I will be returning it. I think the quality is probably on-par with other soft crates, but in the end it just did not fit my needs especially the smell. Tip: Make sure to keep the original box as Amazon seems to require your own shipping box if you decide to return.
