good product - comment about BPA
By Lbrown on Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2020
The description is accurate. this item is very quiet, as detailed. i live in an apartment and did it at 5am and legit you cant hear it from the other room. it also gets the pulp very dry. i saved the pulp, and made it into crackers, veggie meat balls, stir fry. i kept all of it and added it to recipes to give it more umff. lasagna. etc. i didn't try making nut butter, sorbet, baby food, or pasta, but i bet that this product makes those things very well. it is a very effective. cleaning it isn't terrible. there are YES a lot of pieces, but i found it a lot easier to clean than the centrifugal juicer that i had. not too many knooks or cranies for food to get into, so pretty much you just rinse every piece and its good to go. fast cleaning. do your research. look up differences btwn masticating and centrifugal. look up the vitamins that are kept. look up the risks of taking the fiber out in your diet. look up how long juicing shelf life is. look up other companies/brands and where they source their plastic and labor. all that being said, i found that the OMEGA J8006HDS was the best fit for me and my needs. the price is worth it too for the warranty - not every brand offers that warranty. I was very hesitant to buy bc i didn't feel the company had a lot of transparancy with the parts and where the plastic came from. the reviews were also confusing and contradictory. here is my correspondance with the company: ("is there bpa in the plastic?") Yes and no. We use BPA Free materials in as many parts as we can. This means the plastic used has zero BPA in the raw material. Problem is, these are not always strong enough for the juicing process. The auger and screens are made of GW Ultem which is a petroleum-based product. Meaning, it has BPA in the raw material used when making these parts. Luckily, the plastic extrusion process is done under extreme pressure and at high heat. This transforms the finished product so it is less likely to leach BPA into the juice. Additionally, when you hear of BPA and the need for BPA Free products, it is normally referring to containers and other items that have long contact with your end product AND/OR are used under high heat with your end product. Examples: Spring water in a plastic bottle. Microwave containers. Each of these gives the chance for leaching as the items are in contact for a very long time or in contact during a heating process. Since the juicing process does not happen under high heat and the juice is not in contact with the parts, except for a few seconds, this is not an issue. All of the testing we have seen in the past shows that there is no BPA leaching into the juice under normal juice conditions. i also asked about which country mine came from: The NC models are made in South Korea, no difference in operation just made in different countries. The plastic from south Korea is a little stronger. i decided to return this as i felt that juicing was not for me. i am a very healthy person - been vegan for years, run marathons, great diet and exercise. i take herbs and prefer natural medicine. i bought this juicer with the hopes of adding extra vitamins to my life to treat anxiety, better sleep, and more energy. however after more research, i felt that taking the fiber out of the fruits and veggies wasnt the best for absorption of the sugars and certain vitamins. i what i wanted was a new diet every day method, not just an every-now-and-then activity. i dont think juicing every day aligns with my diet philosphy, or goals. so i returned it. but that doesnt mean it isn't right for others.

The blank cone over rotates and plastic auger brakes twice in 5 times use
By Jenniffer Hassey on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2022
Hi I bought this machine for juicing basically but I found it had extra features like grinding coffee and making smoothies which I also like. I've only used it 5 times since I bought it, it got jammed and the auger inside broke on the first day of use and today the same thing happened, so all I want now is my money back. If you want to read the details, check the pictures and video as well: On first day of use it jammed, the blank Cone over rotated inside plus the plastic in the auger chipped and broke, while grinding coffee. I was told to put it in warm water and see if the parts could be separated, but I tried and it was impossible to separate. Fortunately all of the pieces were replaced, I payed $10.00 for shipping and I received the parts in about 5 days. Now, on my 5th time of use, I just finished doing a banana and berries smoothie, which came out great and after I finished eating it, I found that I couldn't remove the parts to wash it. I then noticed that the same thing happened again, the same blank cone got over rotated inside the Drum, plus the plastic auger chipped again in multiple pieces and I noticed that I had eaten the smoothie with the plastic chipping! The Auger and Blank cone are impossible to separate from the Drum, plus I am now shocked because I ate the plastic in my smoothie. I hope that doesn't harm my body, but I just ate part of the plastic auger that chipped! You can see the small plastic in the bowl of water because I put it all the parts to soak. OMG!!! At this point I just want my money back. The juicer isn't that great either, you can only do about three juices at a time because the fruit starts getting jammed and you have to wash all the parts to do a new one. I don't recommend this machine!!! I hope I do get my money back. I feel frustrated about all this happening!!!

Super Happy! Way better than a centrifugal juicer.

Had an Omega centrifugal juicer for 20 years (until the motor blew). Lasted long time (but I was a light user before; juicing daily now.) Didn't like either the cleaning chore or the fact that so much was wasted -- really quite excessive. Looked at ALL options. I was inclined towards the newer versions, but settled on this J8006 to a large extent because of the reviews. (Thank You, Everybody!) * I'm way happy that the fiber output is very dry -- just like everyone said. 300 times better than the centrifugal. Exceedingly little waste. * Maybe it's called "slow" but it is just fine. I still can't chop and peel quick enough to keep it running. Speed is no issue. Yes, it stays cool. * Someone complained about no screen provided in the newer ones. What I thought might be a point turned out not to be (for me). With the screen in place, what comes through is pretty watery. And about half was above the screen and half below the screen, so forced me to stop and deal with it way before I was ready. I wasn't about to throw out 50% so used a spoon to see what went through the screen -- 99%. Tiny bits of fiber (smaller than with the centrifugal) in the juice is better, I think) as gives body to the juice and good for my body and its plumbing, even as minor as the amount of fiber coming through is. Really, it's just fine straight out and I'm not using the screen after that first use. * There were many complaints about breaking plastic on the newer ones. This weighed more, I figured likely more metal, likely more solid. * From the photo, it looked like the plastic bins were pretty cheap. Wrong! They are sturdy and good quality. The juice bin holds a quart, the refuse bin is larger. * The number of reviews and great reviews on the J8006, including recent reviews in light of newer options available, impressed me -- it's still going strong. Even on the Omega website, it's shown pretty much first. * Yes, can't say why, but the juice does taste better. * Cleaning is way easier. Less parts, less mess, easier on and easier off. I did discover that I had to brush the fine screens harder -- but happy to do so as they do a great job! * I just finished juicing two pomegranates. They came out terrible with the centrifugal; came out perfect here. What else I've juiced: beets, carrots, cauliflower, collards, parsley, two kinds of kale, lemons, oranges, celery (lots!), leeks, cucumber (I like ending with that as it flushed out the system). Everything comes out absolutely perfect - absolutely! * Citrus juicer gains far, far more juice than any other kind - squeeze top, hand grip compression -- this gives way more juice. The time to cut off the peel (can be done quickly, doesn't have to be exact) is worth every bit of the output. Lemon, orange. grapefruit -- all fabulous! * And a 15-year warranty? My last Omega lasted 20 years. Just can't beat that!
pulp too wet...BUT Update 2022

I didn't really wanna do it but I had to! I sent the pulp back through the machine because it was just too dang wet. I've been juicing now for about 15 years. I've owned, tried out so many juicers throughout the years. So if you're reeaally into juicing read on. If not, then pls stop here. There’s a few reasons I was lead back to omega. #1. I got tired of cleaning my centrifugal juicer! (I've owned several breville models) #2. Throughout the years I had an issues with part failure especially debris collecting in the basin you could NEVER clean. #3. The difference between centrifugal and masticating juicers is simple. If you care more about nutrient extraction vs. obliterating/oxygenizing those nutrients then stick with a good masticating juicer like this one. If you don't really care about the details and love cleaning alotta parts then by all means go breville or another like brand.) This time around, I researched "easy to clean juicers. Now just because its easier to clean doesn't necessarily mean higher juice yield. But thats the trade off between masticating vs. centrifugal. Centrifugal is fast but harder to clean. Masticating is slow but easier to clean. If ur anything like me and just plain tired of cleaning so many parts and tired of failure issues, then go with this model. The down side as far as this model goes is why I'm giving it 3 stars. The auger could be a little bit bigger so it can be more tightly pressed so the pulp wont come out so dang wet! If they ever redesign the auger for this model, I will definitely upgrade and keep it because cleaning this baby is such a breeze! BUT I hate that I had to send my pulp back through the machine because I know this can mess some juicers up. But I know the model and knew it could tk it. Plus if I had an issue with the pulp there's also a reverse button. (which I didnt even have to use because sending the pulp back through was a breeze as well. As you can see in the video, the pulp did come out drier but some people just simply do NOT have the time for all of that. BUT if you want to extract more nutrients like me and you have a bit more time on your hands then by all means go for this one you won't be too sorry that you did. To me the price, is simply because of the motor. The previous model, which I owned too, was only 150 watt (and oddly more expensive probably b/c of the more attractive design) This model is 200 watts. So they cranked it up a bit. Just need to do something about that auger. I was looking at omegas commercial juicers. I'll try that next. I know that would be a better option for me as much as I love juicing! Anyway, if you made it to the end of my review, HAPPY JUICING KIDS! Hope this helps you to make the best decision for you! :) UPDATE 2022: Still going STRONG! The issue about the pulp being too wet was solved by adjusting the knob in the end more and also NOT sending so much through the chute at once helps as well! Slow and steady with this baby and you’ll get used to the speed! Oh also chopping up the veggies or fruit into smaller bits help! Happy juicing fellow earthlings!😉
Great for occasional juicing

I wanted to start incorporating freshly squeezed juices into my diet but didn’t want to spend a fortune on a high-end juicer, especially since I wasn’t planning to juice every day. After some research, this one seemed like the perfect balance between affordability and performance, so I decided to give it a try. For my occasional juicing needs, it works well. It’s definitely not the fastest juicer out there, and I quickly learned that I have to cut fruits and vegetables into fairly small pieces because the feeding chute isn’t very big/wide. That was a bit of an adjustment, but once I got used to it, I didn’t mind too much. What really impressed me was how much juice it extracted—when I compared it with my friend’s more expensive juicer (one of those where you can throw in a whole apple without cutting), I found that mine actually left drier pulp, meaning it was getting more juice out of the produce. That said, it does have its drawbacks. It’s slower than other juicers I’ve seen, and it struggles a bit with softer fruits and veggies. If I try to juice something like soft apples or cucumbers on their own, the juicing tube tends to get clogged. I’ve found that mixing softer produce with harder ones, like carrots or celery, helps keep things running smoothly. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but now that I know how to work around it, it’s not a dealbreaker. For me, this juicer is exactly what I needed—affordable, efficient, and good enough for occasional use. If I were juicing daily or in large batches, I might consider something faster and more heavy-duty, but for now, I’m happy with my choice. It gets the job done, and that’s what matters to me.

This is probably the fourth (or fifth) ones that I bought. I bought them for family members and all love them. It is heavy and sturdy, well made. The juicer feature is great. It extract every last bit of juice out of anything, leaving behind just the dry bits. Cleaning is also easy, just rinse and dry.
The blank cone over rotates and plastic auger brakes twice in 5 times use

Hi I bought this machine for juicing basically but I found it had extra features like grinding coffee and making smoothies which I also like.

This is a great juicer if you want healthy, cold pressed veggie juice everyday. It’s pretty sturdy and all the the parts are super easy to clean. It extracts so much more juice compared to another juicer that i had. The pulp is super dry too. The size isgood for small kitchens. It is a heavy machine though and the plastic parts for juice collection does get stained with beets and carrots etc. but i use my stainless steel bowl to collect the juice instead.

I love this juicer. It's fabulous. It was very well priced over 5 years ago. It's easy to assemble, disassemble and wash. You do have to cut your items to be juiced, as the food goes into the juicer to be chewed up as if it's a cow chewing it's cud. There is absolutely no waste. The fiber is collected into a small dry ball. This juicer may be pricey, but it's worth every penny.

I am upgrading from Hamilton Beech Big Mouth juicer. I’ve had the Big Mouth for 18 years. Still works, but I wanted a juicer that isn’t centrifugal. Thus juicer, the Omega, makes much better tasting juice. The pulp is very dry. I juicer carrots and beets daily. This juicer handles that well. With the old juicer the beets juice would burn my throat, not so with this new juicer. However, if you are in a hurry in the morning g this may not be for you. It takes about 20 minutes to get 16 ounces. And the produce has to be cut into smaller pieces to fit the feed chute. I’m giving 4 stars because Amazon sent returned product to me. It works fine, but the 2 collection contains ears, for pulp and juice, are missing. The warranty card was also missing. It didn’t arrive in its original original packaging either. None of that is a big deal, but I don’t think I should have had to pay full price. Bottom line: this makes very good juice. It isn’t aerated, and the pulp is very dry. I find it worth the money.
Failed to do apple juice

I received the juicer the 11 of January. I was happy doing carrot juice until I tried some apples. The apples basically blocked the juice screen. I cleaned the whole thing and tried again. Again, it was clogged with apple skins. I hope I can get a solution before I return it. For the price I expected a better result. If doing apples or any other fruit or vegetable with similar skin, does not work, I rather prefer to try something else. One more thing: The chute diameter is small so; I had to cut about 50% of the carrots to fit in it. 3 stars at this point. I expect to see a response soon and long before the due date for returning.
